Hey Y'all,
Any reccommendations re: putting on weight? My pooch is looking a tad thin these days, despite zero change in diet or exercise. Her energy, stool (no worms), breath, etc, are normal, so I'm guessing there's been some kind of metabolic change? We feed Prairie raw medallions, 4 in the morning, 3 at night (suggested feeding on package for her weight) with one teaspoon of omega 3-6-9. She's 22 lbs.
I think the "duh" answer would be to feed more, but it's getting a wee bit expensive if we're buying 3 bags a month. Is there a cheaper, but equally healthy solution?
Thanks!
xoxo
Brooke.

How about using Bravo.. I used the medallions and they are expensive..

Thanks, Fran.
I will check the pet store and see if we get it here -
their website only indicates where it's available in the US.
Any other suggestions if I can't get it here?
Not willing to buy on line with our lame-o, lowly Canadian dollar
and all the ugly customs fees.
Thanks!
B.

Brooke...without seeing your pup I cannot tell whether she is in good weight. My Abigail is 22-23 lbs and that is a good weight for her....no fat...all muscle.
If you think she is has lost weight and is too thin and for no apparent reason....consider a thyroid test.

brooke. i feed oscar the same food you feed borgan. oscar is pretty lean. i feed him 10 ounces a day!!!! and on the website, it says to feed him 14 ounces. that seems like ALOT of food. i have tried increasing it now to 12 ounces (medallions). it is expensive! the other thing i am trying is buying the patties because they are a little cheaper than the medallions. they are a pain in the butt to break up though because of course, they all freeze together and there is no wax paper in between each patty so, they are ROUGH to get apart. i had to have my boyfriend take the bread knive and saw them apart :)

Ok, if you put brown paper (like a brown paper bag) in between the patties they will not stick together..
Now on the East Coast, there is Bravo and Omas which is much less costly..I bought a saw and cut the rolls up.. Believe me the little extra work is worth the savings in money..
Now in Canada, I do not know what brands are available..But I know that there is a website called Barfworld that will ship. Deb,Gigi's mom uses it..
It costs me about $12 a month to feed Dari; she does eat less than your dogs. But the cost of Bravo is much less than what you are using..
A 5 pound roll of chicken with bone and veggie is $2. a pound approximately.

fran, well the problem is the patty's already come frozen as a rock together. so, i can't put paper between them. i just have to saw them apart and put them in individual baggies.
as far as bravo goes...it isn't sold locally so, i would have to have it shipped. that could be an option. but, i am moving to san francisco in october so, i will have to find a place out there all over again. we shall see :)
