I wanted to share this strange experience to see if any other Frenchie parents have ever seen anything simlar. We took Petula (5 months) out to Prospect Park in Brooklyn two weekends ago. One of our friends who we were with informed us that at one of the ponds there is a "doggie beach", which is a shallow, fenced off area that dogs can go swimming in and we figured we would go watch, but Petula of course would not go swimming because Frechies don't know how to swim. When we got there there were plenty of dogs romping around both in and out of the water, so we figured we would let Petula off the leash (after I reached an understanding with my girlfriend that if Petula jumped in the water and needed to be saved, she was going in after her  Petula played with a few dogs for several minutes and then promplty darted off into the water! She romped around up to her belly for a while and then did a couple of small loops out deep enough that she was actually paddling with her head up out of the water, but only maybe 6 feed out from the shore. Each time she did this I would say she was actually "swimming" for about 10 seconds. We were holding our breath anxiously on the shore with a look of astonishment on our faces  and everyone at the dog beach was cheering her on, so it was a very cute scene. I thought it was especially strange since she hates taking a bath so much! We don't plan on letting her go in the water on a regular basis, but we felt very proud of her for being so fearless arount the water! appicon Does anyone have a similar experience?
