any marrow bone filler suggestions out there? oscar has cleaned off/out two marrow bones. there is no more meat on them, and no more marrow inside. oscar eats raw food. anyone have any suggestions about what to fill the marrow bones with now? i would like to still use them. but, since oscar eats raw food, is it bad to feed him non-raw food(zukes treats, peanut butter) in the day? i would like to fill a marrow bone with peanut butter and maybe banana but, since oscar only eats raw food, i don't know if this is a good idea. what do you all fill your marrow bones with or your kongs with?

Sure :) A small amount of peanut butter isn't going to hurt him, irrespective of whether he eats a raw diet or kibble. Since PB is nearly 50% fat though, it would pay not to over do it. And things like banana or other fruits are great. Basically you can use his empty marrow bones just like a kong - including freezing them with stuffing, if you want to make them last longer (before he's got all the filling out).

There are a bunch of empty marrow bones in Dari's "toy box" (her crate). She will alternate between them; she picks a different one to chew on everyday. And I do not fill them with anything.
There are times that Dari will chew her Bullysticks with an intensity that is frightening. Then she will ignore them for weeks at a time and attack her marrow bones.Who knows how that mind works.

I have never taken down her crate. The one change I did make was to get an "EZcrate",which is a soft collapsible crate.Dari puts new toys in it and will sometimes take a toy in it to chew.

EZcrates are NOT training crates. They are fabric and have a zipper, which an escape artist can push thier head thru..I bought it because I could pack it up and take it with me.It is lightweight and folds down to almost nothing..But I did use it once she was trained.
She was crated until she was just a year because of the cats.

i found the answer to my own question...if it will help anyone else out there :) on the kong website, they have all kinds of recipes for kongs...and i can put the same things inside oscar's empty marrow bones. tonight, i mixed up cut up apples and peanut butter and i put them inside oscar's marrow bone. he licked it, bite it, messed with it for an hour and a half. other ideas were to use any kind of fruit, mixed with yogurt, or cottage cheese. peanut butter, cheerios.....the list went on. just wanted to share if anyone else wants to do this for their dogs. i know, for me, these treats make great "weapons" for when i leave oscar. he is occupied, so he does his thing, and then goes to sleep, instead of concentrating on the fact that i am leaving. thanks for all the help all!!!!!!!!!!!
