we got murphy when he was 5 months old from a home where the bathroom was the floor. for the last 2 months we have had a very hard time training him to go outside and not in the house. we have a small yard (we live in the city) and i carry him down and he will go. FOR THE FIRST TIME YESTERDAY!! and 3 times today he ran outside....ran down the steps...and did his business all by himself appicon appicon appicon

im so proud of him....hes learning!!! its so funny how you can get so much gratification out of peeing on his own

i hope he keeps it up...keep your fingers crossed!!!

Yes, I remember the JOY of seeing Dari peeing outside. And doing the POOP dance.
You at least have a yard to dance in. Picture me on the streets of Manhatten, dancing and praising my dog in that stupid high pitched voice; OH you wonderful dog , you peed outside . Or some nonsense; and people looking at me like I was nuts.
All because my dog PEED outside.!!!

Should I send you a diagram of the POOP dance with words and music??

oh fran....that dance is is my favorite dance in the world!!! i live in chicago and when we first moved here we lived in the downtown downtown area (im from NY and nothing compares....but this is the area that looks the most like it) and lived on the 40th floor

we got Tucker (a chow mix) 2 years ago without knowing a thing about dogs and trained him to pee on the balcony on a wee wee pad. his walks were down the busiest street in chicago and many many heard my high pitched "good boys"

we moved to another part of the city....the street i live on is like the suburbs but 2 mins down the street is the "city"

and now that we have 2 its so much more convenient living across the street from a park and having the tiny yard

Whitney is starting to go to the door and sit and wait for me to take her out, I know we still have a long way to go but we are way further than I thought we would be at this point she is 13 weeks. I see her wandering so I wook at her and ask her what she is doing, she sits and stares at me for a sec and then goes sits at the door and looks at me. I have been trying so hard since I am home alot I see little signs that the consistancy is paying off.
