Frenchie/Boxer Comparison

I am a boxerworld member and when Olly announced that bulldogworld was up and running a light bulb went off in my head. I am feeling that a french bulldog would be the perfect pet for my parents. Both my mother and father absolutely adore my 15 month old female boxer, Jesse, but my mother prefers smaller breeds. I did have my parents looking at the pictures here on bulldogworld and they do think french bulldogs are cute.

I see that there are a few members that have had boxer experience. So, do frenchies really have many of the same qualities of boxers? I have never met a french bulldog in all my years so I haven't a clue. Are they clowns? Do they like to play until they pass out? Do they like to lick your face? Are they good with kids? You know what I am getting at :)

As far as I can tell, they are very similar. My parents-in-law always say how Bruce (FB) remindes them of their Nora (Boxer). So if your parets love Boxer's but they would prefer a smaller dog....the frenchie's perfect! But then again....the frenchie's just are perfect!!

With Frenchies you have to be careful that they don't go to far, some don't know when to stop, it can be fatal :( .



I don't understand what you mean by this. Are you saying that you have to watch that Frenchies don't play too hard or too long because that can cause problems? That would make sense because of their squishy faces. At least that is how my thinking goes. :lol:

I have to watch this with my boxer. He can't play for long because he gets winded really easily. I also cannot take him outside for long periods of time in the summer because he just gets too hot and will vomit. :( He has a longer snout than most boxers but he still cannot tolerate heat well at all.

Michelle I was wondering about kisses too! :p I love getting boxer kisses and was hoping that these little guys were kissers too!

Another trait I love about boxer personality is that they love to cuddle. They always want to be right next to you touching you and snuggling. Are Frenchies this way too? :)

My parents, especially my mother, prefers the French Bulldogs compared to Boxers because they are smaller and not so wild as Boxers can be during their "teenager age" ;)

Frenchies love to play and because they are so hard for themselves they often don't know when to stop. when you have warm weather you have to be careful that they don't overheat, there have been quite a few of Frenchies who have died because of this.
I agree with you about the fact they are so hard for themselves. Athlon would not stop playing if I don't, but that is inside the house. I noticed during last summer (and it was a hot one!) that he was pretty careful outside: he played with me for just 5 minutes before going in the shadow with his toy or running to the house.
