Morrie is 14 weeks old and whenever we play with him he bites our hands. It's like he can't help himself. Sometimes when we say "Don't bite!" He (sometimes) stops for a while and bites his own paws. When he gets excited it's almost like he's in a trance and he has to have something in his mouth to bite (We have tried giving him chew toys to chew while we pet him and sometimes that works). He has not drawn blood but we have some pretty nasty scratches. What I have been doing is telling him "Don't bite" and if he continues I stop playing with him. Has anyone had this problem with their puppy and did the dog outgrow the problem or should I be doing something more to stop this behavior?
Another problem we have is that whenever a stranger (or even someone who he knows, but not well) bends down to pet Morrie, his ears go flat on his head, he crouches flat on the floor and he pees. Around us he is pretty confident, even a little dominant, so it's odd to see him so fearful and submissive. :(
One more thing: Morrie jumps up a lot. I have read that ignoring him is the thing to do and I have also read that you need to push him down and give a command. I'm most concerned about suppertime. We want to have him in the room with us, but we want him to learn to leave us alone to enjoy our meals.
Any suggestions?
