hi everyone. please welcome secret spy to the community.
he is now 4 months old (we have had him for a little less than 2 months) and is already a whopping 18.3 pounds! (our vet told us that he would be the "godzilla of the breed.")
he is a handsome (aren't they all) brindled male, though the brindle hasn't come through yet.
his best friend is a 60 lb boxer named louie. i will post a photo as soon as i have priviledge.
nice to meet you all.

Wait a minute ... is his name 'Secret Spy' or are YOU a secret spy and his name's Brian? I was gonna put a funny face at the end of that question except I really am unsure!
My Gigi was BLACK when she arrived but she's beginning to really brindle up recently - man she's a beauty. She's gonna get a big head 'cause I'm always telling her how pretty she is.
You're right, 18.3 at 4mo is big! But who knows ... every dog has it's own maturation process. Maybe he'll stop there - though I doubt it!!

Welcome to the board Olivia and Brian :)
My Athlon was much darker when he was young, almost black too. Now we can see well he's clearly a brindle.

the puppy is named secret spy (or just spy for short) and we (the humans) are olivia and brian!
we already have read so so much great info on here! it is truly amazing.
brian is always telling me some weird bit of information about frenchies that he read. everyone is so knowledgeable which is so reassuring.
do you know when we will be able to have a pic next to our name as well?
hope to hear from you all soon!

spy is basically all black with a few brownish hairs in select areas. i haven't noticed more of the brindle coming through lately but who knows what to expect.
though, he did develop a smal round bald spot that has no hair suddenly. do you think that is normal? he is also shedding quite a lot lately- maybe losing his puppy hair?

hi there and welcome!!! looking forward to photos!!! how big is the spot you are referring too? is it red? As for shedding, biggie has been shedding a bunch recently. usually if you bathe them then brush them right after it helps to release a bunch of the dead hairs and you will see less shedding...at least thats what i have found in my experience...

hi,
no, the spot isn't red at all. i can just see his skin. and it is quite small, probably not even 1/4 inch in diameter. i thought maybe it was a seasonal thing?
have you heard about the body cooler another member wrote about? what do you think?
thanks.

Hi Olivia, Brian & Spy,
Welcome! I wouldn't start worrying quite yet! I have heard of a 4 month old male who weighed 20 lbs but ended up being within standard :)
Adora weighed about 18 lbs when she was 4 months, 20 lbs at 5 months and now 22 lbs at 6 months! It seems like she did all of her growing at once. Her growth has seemed to level off and I don't think she'll be over 28 lbs when she's fully mature.
I was really sweating it for a while!
