Hello Everyone,
I am new here and I would like to introduce myself.
My name is Esther and I am living with my boyfriend and 17 pets! We live in the Netherlands.
I am 22 years old and I work as a guard in prison, its a very nice and interesting job.
Our first dog we bought, is Boelie, she is a French Bulldog. She is white with black plates (I dont know the correct word in english). She is now 19 months old.
The second dog we got, is Ringo, he is a Bullmastiff. When we got him he was 2,5 years old and in very bad condition, he has been neglected and abused evilicon but now he is doing very fine and has a great time here together with his "sister" Boelie.
Since three weeks we have a new puppy. Her name is Bella Donna, her mother is a Bordeaux Dog and her father is a Neapolitan Mastiff. It wasn't planned, it was an accident, but she is a beautiful nice and sweet puppy. I will soon place some pictures of my doggies :D
Okay that was about it for my introduction. I am planning to come her more often. It is nice to meet other Frenchies owners from all over the world!
Greetings,
Esther

Hello Esther, welcome, you and your zoo! :)
It is an international forum but Dutch members represent the majority :D
As you work in a prison: is it allowed to have pets in some areas of the prison? I don't think people can have dogs there but maybe little birds?

@ Olly: In the prison where I work it's not allowed to keep pets. But htere are prisons in the Netherlands where you can have some small birds or fish.
Most of prisoners in "my" prison come drom The Dutch Antilles, and they are afraid of dogs, especially big dogs. But most of them have a Pittbull as pet
About my pets:
We have three dogs, three cats, three gerbils, three rats, 1 tarantulla and 4 rabbits! All of them live in the house and not in my garden!
I made a site about my life with 17 pets, but its only in dutch, but you could look at the pictures.
The url is www.boelie.com Click on the names of the dogs and you can see some pictures. Also click on the button "Katten" which meens "Cats", there you can see pictures of my cats.
The site isn't finished yet, but it's a start.

I saw your cats :)
How did you get the idea to have a tarantulla?
I lived in Côte d'Ivoire when I was a child and had several pets (staying mostly in the garden or in the bathroom) like turkeys, ducks, a kind of japanese chickens, lizards, snakes, a monkey and two crocodiles... but that was in Africa. No spider though!

@ Olly: Did you see my dogs as well?
Well my boyfriend Jeroen saw the tarantualla in our local petshop, he really wanted to have it. I am very afraid of spiders but then I tought long about it and as long as he stays in his place its okay with me. So I bought the spider for his birthday! :)
But Fulci did escaped for one time  Jeroen wasn't at home so I had to catch it myself, I wasn't very pleased with that but I caught him and put him back!

Hi Esther!
Keep your spyder in his aquarium or whatever you use because he might end as Boelie's appetizer one day
Does it bite?
I saw your dogs but didn't click all the links. I saw a lot more photos now on the following links:

Very cute French Bulldog. I just created an avatar for your profile with one of Boelie's photos found on your site.

@ Olly: Thanks for making an avatar! Its nice to see my little Frenchie here!
The spider isn't agressive, but when you piss him off he can shoot the hairs on his back, it won't cause any dangerous wounds, but can hurt a bit.
I think you saw alle the pictures of Boelie now.
Ringo is our Bullmastiff, there are pictures of him on the site too, and when you click on Bella you see our new puppie (Mix of Dogue de Bordeau and Neapolitan Mastiff).
She is growing pretty fast. Last monday she was exactly nine weeks and we went to our vet, she weight 9.8 kilos! I think she is over 10 kilos right now....
But you grew up with lots of pets as well!
You had a monkey?
Tell me some more about it, sounds very interesting!

Do you mean his hairs can hurt when they touch you? Is it because they can give some allergies?
As for the monkey I had in Ivory Coast, it was a "patas rouge" (red patas) species. It's not really an interesting kind of monkey to have as a pet. It's one of the fastest monkeys in the world with something around 50km/h if I remember well. Unlike with chimpanzees you can play with, mine was still wild. Per example, looking at him or looking at his eyes made him mad at me :)
I tried to show him how to peel bananas but he never understood
That monkey was donated to my father, that how he ended home.
I have some photos I need to scan. In the meantime you can see what a patas rouge looks like at http://perso.wanadoo.fr/gilles.monnoyeur/images/patas.jpg

@ Olly: the hairs give a burning sensation, which lasts a few hours and then fades away. He shoots his hair from his back by rubbing his legs on it very fast. He only does it out of territorial defence, not out of agression. If you are sensible you can tame them by touching their legs.
I saw the monkey, it looks very nice :) Monkeys are interesting animals!
