we have been researching dog food. our office manager gave me stacks of papers she had researched on various commercial dog foods and boy is it scary ! i also talked to our vet today. she has some patients who had stomach problems that stopped when they switched to the raw diet. but if i feed kibble i have to be very selective on the ingredients in them. so quinn called our local feed store to see if they had "prairie" dog food and they did.and then they got on the subject of french bulldogs and she wanted us to bring the "kids" with us as she had never seen one. so my daughter and i took them with us to get the food. we barely got in the store and got surrounded by admirers. one big cowboy asked is that a pug? lol . but everyone said how adorable they were and none of them had ever seen one before, let alone two. they got toys and treats"on the house" and when i looked closely at the bag of food, i busted out laughing . it wasnt "prairie" brand dog food. it was "prairie dog" food. and it had a picture of the rodent type animal on the front of the bag ! they didnt have the prairie brand but she reccomended royal canin so we bought that and she gave the "kids" a sample of natural balance lamb formula dog food. it comes in a roll like sausauge.no corn, preservatives, and told me to cut a slice of it and use it as treats instead of the store bought treats. they loved it ! so i feel better now that they are getting good nutrition, although rocky isnt 14.5 he weighs 14.10 and he isnt fat at all he is all muscle. and thank god i didnt come home with the rodent food !

That's pretty funny! Luckily you didn't get all the way home with the rodent food. We use royal canin too.

Great story! I'm not too parital to prairie dogs myself and find it hard that people would actually keep them as pets. That seems as though it would be like keeping squirrels as pets. But, as they say, it takes all kinds to make the world go round!
