What is the best thing to get your dog to chew on when she is a puppy ?

hi
puppies will chew whatever they can get their mouths on! I reckon whats good though are those dog toys called Kongs, or similar. They are made out of a special kind of rubber which is non-toxic and indestructable. Its good for massaging the gums to help the teeth come through. Also no mess from chewed off bits. A solid bone which is too tough to splinter and to big to swallow would also be good.

We have Nylabones for all of our dogs.

Frozen washcloth? Now that's one I have never heard of! I tried nylabones with some of my Bostons years ago but didn't like the sharp edges after a few hours of chewing. My Frenchies have never had any interest in them. Abby enjoyed knuckle bones when she was a pup....but with Ferris we bought him a puppy kong. He is now 2 yrs old and his puppy kong is still his favorite thing to chomp on. We call is his "binky". Carolyn

It's all about bully sticks! IMHO the best thing for a teething puppy. Neither of mine have ever chewed on their Kongs or Nylabones. They don't even touch the Nylabones, and the Kongs - they just want them if they have stuffing! ;)

The frozen washcloth is a great idea. Our trainer with Beckham told us about that one - he suggested using buillion in the water to make it more appealing.

Another idea is crushed ice - Adora goes nuts for it.

And last, but not least, baby teething toys (not the water-filled kind). Adora loves them - but I don't leave her unsupervised with them just in case :)
