I was wondering if anyone here was into digital photography? In 2000 I got my first digital camera and it was an Olympus Camedia C920 Zoom (1.3 mp). It was a wonderful experience to be able to take photos without paying for films! It unfortunately broke last year for unknown reasons. In the beginning of 2002 I got a Canon Pro90IS (2.6 mp with a great x10 optical lense with image stabilizer) and at the end of 2002 a Nikon Coolpix 5000 (5 mp) mainly for taking wide angle photos (landscapes, buildings, interior photos).
I especially like to take macro photos of insects or flowers but also about anything else.
As Roosje mentioned a few days ago her uncle and aunt have a house in Menton, here are some photos of Menton I took this year :)

I will upload some photos of insects later :)

Roosje, do you know your little camera is named the "sushi"?
I remember they started it with a 1 megapixel version, and I believe there is a 3 megapixel version now. Digital cameras change so quickly, it's "worse" (for people who bought them and see the same camera at half price 10 months later) than with computers!
My Canon looks very much like Fred's Sony. I will upload some photos once I am back home.
As for the flower, I know what you mean but do not know the English name too. It's "bougainvillée" in French (http://www.gerbeaud.com/jardin/fiches/fp_bougainvillee_soins.php3).

What a huge glass of beer! :D

Here are two "macro" photos of butterflies I took this summer:

Both were taken with the Canon Pro90IS with a macro lense (Canon 500D). Here is a photo of my camera on a tripod with a wide lense attached to it: http://www.bulldogworld.com/misc/pro90.jpg

Thank you Pattie :)
Very nice photos, Roosje! They are like artistic black and white photos. I will have to take some photos of snow at night this winter ;)
Yes, the butterflies are "resting" (way of speaking as in fact they are moving fast and my autofocus is pretty slow - I "wasted" dozens of photos to finally get a few ones that are nice!) on lavenders. I do not have the grey filter but I do have a UV filter just to protect the lense. When there is too much light, there is nothing I can do (only f8 and a maximum shutter speed of 1/1000 second). It is rare and only happens when it is cloudy and bright at the same time, or with pictures of snow when it is sunny.

Here are more close shots of insects: http://www.boxer-world.com/insects
I posted the link on my Boxer site this summer but couldn't find it earlier today.
They were all taken with the Canon Pro90IS, except the 4 last photos (on the last line starting by a fly) that were taken with the Coolpix 5000 (http://www.bulldogworld.com/misc/coolpix5000.jpg)
The dragonfly photo at http://www.boxer-world.com/insects/insect13.htm was picture of the day/week on several photo sites. I almost caught a cramp in my shoulder because I couldn't move for several minutes to not to scare it :)
I like to take macro photos because it is like discovering a new world that is there "in front of us" everyday but we never notice.

I love those camera´s, I already had so much fun with it, taking it everywhere...............
 I too have so much fun that I take too many pictures... my hard disk is always full so I have to save them into CDs! I always carry a bag with my cameras almost everywhere I go!
Fuji digicams are great and known to give "happy" colours :)

I like the pics of the bees but not the one of the spider. I don't like creepy things like that. :p

Olly can you post your pics of the little froggie? :D

I have enjoyed your photos, Olly and Roosje. I have always been interested in photography and felt that I had an "eye" for it...but never have taken the time in my busy life to persue it. I love what you both have done and you both seem to have talent. A very good friend of mine has talent and I will be sharing your photos with her. Let's see more!

Thanks Carolyn :)
I finally found the photos of frogs I posted on Boxerworld a long time ago, and guess what? It's French Bulldog related as (unfortunately) there is Athlon's hair on the frog! :o
The photos were taken at midnight during the summer 2002 and Athlon noticed the frog. I quickly took my camera with a macro lense and took some photos using the flash as it was pretty dark. On the little screen of my digital camera the photos looked perfect. It's only on the monitor that I discovered Athlon's hair on it...
