Scaly rash on inner ear

I wonder if anyone has any insight into this: my frenchie, Louie, developed a rash about a week ago on the inside of one of his ears. It's reddish and feels bumpy/scaly when I touch it. It's about the size of my little finger fingerprint. It doesn't seem to bother him - he's not scratching at it. Any ideas what could be the cause - has anyone ever seen something like this, and do you think it's worth a vet visit?

I just took my Luna to the vet today for the same type of thing. Except that the scaly patch was very very itchy and driving her crazy. They gave me an anti-fungal and said it was yeast. Maybe you should go check it out, I know Luna couldn't reach her ears to scratch it, but would try all the time and try and rub her head against me. Maybe your dog is itchier than you've noticed. Its so hard for them to reach their ears to scratch!
