hello.........we bought our first frenchie a month ago. he is a black masked red/fawn. he is so beautiful and smart. he has a favorite toy(tony the tiger). i;ll hide it at the bottom of his toybox and he;ll pull everything out until he finds it. he is so comical to watch him play with the cat too. he hops around like a rabbit and makes these little growling noises. he goes to his bed and takes short naps during the day, but at night he'll come to my side of the bed and i help him up and cover him up. our bed is low to the ground and he can almost get up by himself now. i have some really cute pics of him but i cant figure out how to downsize them to make them fit on this site. any help would be appreciated.......thanx :)

he will be four months old tommorrow. i was kind of worried about him because he is so small. 10 pounds. but he is built solid . and he is very active. :) i know they have two different size standards for the frenchie. he will probably be in the 18-22 pound range. thanx for the reply. hope to see pics of your baby too..........i am sure he is adorable ! how can anyone not fall in love with those little faces !

There are NOT two different size standards for Frenchies. The AKC (North American) standard is 28 pounds.

You are looking at an outdated standard. Go to the AKC site and then to the breed standard.

What ever the size of your dog, welcome to the board. As long as your dog is healthy and happy that is all that really counts.

He's gorgeous!!! Look at my gallery at how my little Bait has grown up,she seems to be a similar color and is also pretty small (about 20 lbs.) - the best thing is the little guys always look like puppies and they're carry on luggage!

Good luck and enjoy!

thank you ! i think he's beautiful too. and yours are too. your pic where he's wearing the black sweater looks alot like rocky except more of rockys face is black. all frenchies are beautiful ! i just fell in love with the black masked fawns. i think rocky will stay on the smaller side. although he loves to eat. i buy his treats from my vet. they come in a pouch and he sees me get out the pouch and goes nuts ! lol . he,s 4 months old today and today was the first time i,ve heard him bark. he hops around the house playing with the cat and making these weird grumbling noises, but today he actually barked. not ferocous enough to scare anything , not even the cat ! phat boy just gave him a dirty look !

Quinneybear...(what is your real name?)....it is really hard to predict size at a young age. I remember the first few months that we had Ferris (male, brindle). My husband was distraught that he might remain small and have a "pin head". I just laughed at him and said...."he is not yet done growing". Our breeder had told us that he would have beautiful confirmation, big chest and nice head. Ferris continued to develop....and he is now 2. He is probably 28 pounds with a well muscled body and beautiful big head with lots of wrinkles. :p He is gorgeous and I hope to post more recent pictures of him soon. Carolyn

hello carolyn ! my real name is debbie. my husband is quinn and i call him quinnybear because he is a very large huggy lovey man. its so cute to watch him with rocky. he kisses and cuddles him all the time. he said he's never had a dog that he fell so in love with ! i told him it's because he's never had a frenchie !!! we are both in our late 40's .he has 3 boys all grown and gone. and i have six chidren, four natural and two that i took in when they were small because their mother abandoned them. we are now down to just two girls , both 16. so we decided to "adopt another baby" lol . ;) i am not too worried about his size. i was just thinking of showing him when he gets older. his dad is "rock-n-roll around the world " and although i dont know the robertsons personally, i,ve been told the rock-n-roll frenchies are among the best. but if he doesnt end up show potential we dont care because we love him unconditionally ! :)

Nice to meet you, Debbie!! My husband is also a very large lumberjack kind of guy who just melts when it comes to our doggies. :p I have heard of Rock and Roll Frenchies and I have heard nothing but good about this breeder. I think it is wonderful that you are contemplating showing! Like you said....if showing doesn't work out...you still have a wonderful Frenchie who I am sure is giving you love and joy beyond words. appicon

Again...very nice to meet you! Carolyn
