Bait's Mom

Hi there! My name is Deirdre and I'm the proud momma of a 2 yr old red girl named Bait. I'm a TV producer and she was originally purchased to be the side kick on a travel series - we opted to keep her off screen, but she's traveled the world as part of the crew - but she doesn't know it, a true hollywood girl, she's treated like the star - D-I-V-A!!! She refuses to fly coach, insists on real meat, snubs anyone non-bulldog (though english seems acceptable) and definitely needs her sleep. She doesw however work very hard to keep her svelte figure - loves to fish, swim, fetch, chase squirrels and runs on the beach every night. She's perfect in every way, as I'm sure you all feel of your own. I will try to post some pics from our travels, it's fun to see people react to her around the world. She also meets a lot of celebs, and I've just started taking pics of her meetings - the posts should be fun!

Bait swims? Doesn't she know that Frenchies can't swim?
That is cool. Do you live in Ca?? what Beach?and what travel series?
We went to the beach one (Fire Island here in NY) Dari was appalled that I made her touch the sand! And the water touched her dainty feet
The bigger the dog, the happier Ms Dari (as she is know to her fans) is.
no small yappies around here

Yes, we live in Santa Monica and she runs on SM beach almost everynight - as soon as we hit the sand, she comes off leash and bolts for the water - ducks down low and tears through the sand - won't stop for anything. I'll post a pic, it's hysterical. She loves to chase the waves, but only swims with her lifevest on (you can see in her gallery pics if they ever appear).
I worry about her when she runs too hard or with faster dogs though, she gags a little, but won't stop playing. I know about heat, but do frenchies know their limit aerobically? Can they over exert their breathing?
Thanks.
Also, the show is called HOTLINES on Spike. Bait's not on it, but will be on a children's series to be shot in the Bahamas this summer

Have you ever had Bait's pallate checked? It sounds like it might be too long. This can ONLY be done while she is under anesthetic;usually the vet checks when they are being spayed.
Does she make any noise when she breathes? How are her nares?
Gagging is a sign of Elongated soft pallate..Have it checked out.

Deirdre....welcome!! I can't wait to see pictures of your "Diva" :D Aren't these guys just too much fun? My two are Abby, 3 1/2 yr old blk/white and Ferris, 2 yr old brindle. I don't know how I ever lived without a Frenchie....peacefully, I expect! Just kidding....my household is soooo much more fun with them around. :) I haven't taken them to the beach....the dog friendly beaches here (north San Diego county) are a little too crazy for my comfort.
No, I don't believe they know when to stop....at least my Abby doesn't. She will go and go and we have to watch and monitor her activity. Ferris, although very well muscled, knows when to call it quits. Being a male...he is much more laid back than my girl. The two really compliment each other.
More stories! appicon Carolyn

Welcome - she looks like a cutie! I've got Gigi & Lola ... just 11mo, but not littermates. When it's just the three of out and about, my two are very good at stopping when they get tired, hot, etc and taking a break. However, if we're around other dogs - hell no!! Too much f-u-n ;)!
Look forward to more stories and pics 'cause I'm sure you've got lots of both :D

Thank you for adding to my post about Vladimir. I think that Bait looks like a wonderful dog. He is so cute, though I think that all of us French Bulldog owners have heard that one a million times!
