called them in to eat, she wouldn't come, I had to go pick her up. She couldn't put any weight on her back right leg. :( So, off to the vet. He thinks she has torn/strained the ligaments in that leg, said she could have done it just by twisting it wrong. That's the only thing I can think of cause there is nothing for her to jump on/off in the backyard. Anyhoo, she's on Prednisone and crate rest for about a week, then we'll recheck. Also had really runny #2, so she's on Bisol yesterday and today. Seems to be working. That's a new med for me, hadn't heard of it. She's doing much, much better, seems to have no problem at all, hard to keep the little bowling ball quiet. Anyone else had their Frenchie do something like this? Oh.............she also has luxating patellas, we'll deal with that later. ~~sigh~~ Good thing I love her!

hi there,

i'm sorry to hear about lovey, i know exactly how scared you were - this happened with my mooi about 3 weeks ago. i came home to find him collapsed and he couldn't stand up on his hindlegs. he did shortly after. the vet xrayed his back and he's got one hemivertabrae and it's out of line with the others. so that could be pinching his spine nerves. it could also have been a ligament sprain. did your vet do a reflex test to check for responses? it may be back related, many frenchies have back problems, and it could be caused by even a slight movement, not necessarily a big jump. but thankfully, many of these episodes can be healed with rest and some painkillers or steroids, although sometimes surgery is needed.

mooi is on a month long rest, and he was on a painkiller for a week, but not a steroid. he seems totally fine and has not had another event like that since. watch out for any signs of pain (heavy painting, not wanting to play etc). this will tell you if the problem persists. hope she feels better soon,

kasia

and not torn as fast as she has recovered. Still walking her and not letting her tear around the yard or jump. Now she just waits for me to pick her up..........and.......if I'm not quick enough, she sits and stares and grunts at me.
