Hello,

I am not a French bulldog owner yet, Mainly because my wife and I can not figure out where in the heck to get one.

We live in Los Angeles, and have driven by a few pet stores that Honestly looked too beaten up and dirty to even stop. And everytime we look online we just get these breeders that are in Different STATES!!

Is ordering a Puppy online the only way to get a Registered/healthy french bulldog puppy?

Thanks in advance for any response

Hello, and welcome to Frenchbulldogworld :) I hope you enjoy it.

Regards puppy buying - do you mean advertised online, or actually able to purchase? If the latter, you're not in any better position than buying a mill puppy from a petstore. Responsible breeders do not sell that way - ever. I would never consider purchasing one online. That is a guarantee that you will not be buying from a responsible breeder, but more likely from a puppy mill or broker, at very least from an irresponsible individual.

Frenchbulldogworld does not allow solicitations/the promotion of individual breeders, so its not possible to get a referral through this site. HOWEVER there is nothing to stop anyone giving advice on the best way to find a responsible breeder. IMO the best place to start is your nearest French bulldog club (or even an all-breeds club, if there isn't one for French bulldogs anywhere near you). The parent club in the US is http://www.frenchbulldogclub.org/ That is a good place to start looking for responsible breeders, who take adequate care to produce correct and healthy puppies. Even if those near you don't have litters available, they may be able to point you in the direction of others that do. Another good way to make contact with responsible breeders is to attend dog shows.

Good luck with your search :)

What I would suggest: go to www.infodog.com look to see when the next dog show is.. That is the BEST place to meet Reputable breeders/owners/handlers.

Look on the site to see when the next shows are in your area.. at the time the Frenchies will be judged.. get there about an hour before the judging.. Do not expect to really get into a deep conversation before judging..just get phone numbers..

Reputable Breeders want to get to know you, to make sure that you are a home they want to place thier dog in.. a forever home..not that you just have the money to pay..

Getting a dog from a Reputable breeder helps to insure that the appropriate health testing is done.. that the pedigrees match.. that you will get a dog that is within breed standard.. and that if anything should happen, Someone will be there for the LIFE OF YOUR DOG...

In addition..go to www.thewrongpuppy.org this is a site that will show you what happens when you buy from the wrong people...Go to www.frenchbulldogrescuenetwork.org read the stories of dogs turned into rescue the tragedies of dogs from byb's millers;petstores ,online and "champion lines" (a dead give away of a less than reputable breeder).. remember, anyone who puts 2 dogs together is a "breeder"..

Be patient.. don't rush... develop a relationship... to get the right dog from the right REPUTABLE breeder.. You will have your dog for many years..
And there are NO bargains in this breed...No $800 dogs... a quality dog cost. not that money means a great dog...either...

Getting a dog from a reputable breeder will save you and your dog years of heartache..
And driving hours to get it is a small price...
