Hi everyone
Marcel is about 18 months now is generally doing great. Since Wednesday though, he has been vomiting after he eats. He never has a great apetite, but lately only eats one of his 2 meals per day, and then throws it up about 2 min after. This has happened the last 4-5 meals he's eaten. He eats raw- a range of meats/bone/organs from Hare Today. His energy levels are normal, and is his usual playful self.
I've read a number of threads on this issue- but none seem to pertain to his specific diet etc. He was checked for elongated palette when he was neutered about 8 months ago, and was fine in that regard.
Any help would be apprciated- I'm quite worried about him.:(
thanks in advance
Hayley and Marcel.

I wonder a little about megaeosophagus... Has a vet taken a look at him? If not, I'd suggest that would be the best course of action.
With the food, how cold is it when you feed? Conceivably it might make a bit of difference if you bring it up to room temperature before feeding (even a short blast in the microwave - not to cook, but just to warm slightly). Most dogs aren't sensitive to temperature, but some are, so it seems an easy thing that's worth trying.

thanks GM for the reply.
I'll try bring the food to room temperature- it is straight out the fridge and generally on the cold side. I'll also call my vet tomorrow.
Will keep you posted.
cheers!

Hi Hayley - there could a number of things that can cause this but I would take him to the vets to get checked out especially if he has been doing this since last Wednesday, when they are like this a risk of Aspirational Pneumonia too.
Have you tried him on any other food? If you have & he's ok with it then there may be something wrong with Hare Today, they may have added something different that doesn't agree with him or you could have been given a bad batch. It wouldn't be the first time where food has been sold out of date. Could he have swalllowed something?
You could try feeding him very small meals see if that helps. Is he drinking ok?
Let us know how you get on.
Thinking of you both

Hi Queenie
Thanks for your post- i have an appointment with the vet tomorrow morning and will keep you posted. To answer your question- last night and this morning i feed him a scrambled egg with a little chicken and he seemed to hold it down ok. He's drinking fine- in fact this weekend was very playful and drank more than usual, with no issues.
Regarding the Hare Today food- I defrosted a number of meats- and he was throwing up all of them- so not sure that's the issue.
I'll try give him a bland supper and then see what the vet says. He generally doesn't love his food- which seems quite unusual compared to the Frenchies I know- who devour theirs in seconds.
Thanks, will follow up tomorrow

Hi Haley - pleased Marcel is keeping some food down now, sounds like he's picking up, it certainly hasn't curbed his antics in any way. You're wise to keep him on a bland diet for the time being. You never know by the time you see the vet he may be back to normal, this has happened with some of mine in the past.
When it comes to food frenchies fall into three camps, the normal, the picky & the little porkies. I find picky ones appetites increase with age, our Ky was five before he finally picked up, owning a picky one is no picnic; give me a little piggy any day. I've had three over the years & funnily enough they have all been boys too.
Will be thinking of you today

Hi Queenie
Just a quick update- i did take Marcel to the vet yesterday and since he has kept his food down since Sunday- the doc wasn't too worried. He also said that its a good sign that he's drinking water without issue, and continues to eat his food- so ruled out any serious concerns.
He mentioned a range of potential minor issues, and prescribed a drug called metoclopramide- which lowers the acidity of the stomach and acts as an anti-emetic (anti-vomiting). He said it will also speed up the healing of any irritation in the stomach, which he anticipates is slowly healing itself.
So far so good.. he's back to his bubbly self- eating and keeping his food down.. and thankfully sparing my Italian rug!
thanks for your posts.. now i just wish he was less picky and more piggy.

Hi Haley - sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner but I've been having computer problems.
I'm pleased Marcel is improving appicon I wouldn't worry about the amount he is eating, he will eat as much as he needs & he wont allow himself to starve. There are many things you could try to encourage him to eat but the more you pander the more fussy they become.
I tend to feed picky one's four meals a day rather than one or two. Our Ky would never eat one large meal he would be overwhelmed by the sheer amount  When he was younger there were day's where he wouldn't eat at all but providing he wasn't ill I didn't worry. You should see him now, he even tries to steal Jade's dinner & this little boy can eat for England now, as your Marcel get's older he may turn into a little piggy too.
Is your Italian rug still safe  When mine are going to be sick or bring up bile they all head for a beanbag/bed, cage, or rug, they like their comfort when being sick
Best wishes
