Growing Dark Nails?

Hi,

We recently noticed something odd with our youngest Frenchie that I am hoping someone might have seen in the past. As her nails have begun to grow out, they are turning dark red/brown at the base where they grow from her paw (when they are normally clear). It looks like all are growing in this way, and they do not seem to be bothering he any more than in the past. Has anyone experienced this? Is it just age? She is ~ 2 years old. I would love any thoughts!

Hi Stacey & Marty - nails can turn this colour as they mature our Ky's did.

At first I thought you were referring to the quick :lol: the quick supplies blood vessels & nerves to the nail, the longer the nail the longer the quick will be. I noticed our Arran's quick's go a darker red in the last few months.
