I'd love to hear all of your opinions on this topic...

I have read in a few different books to withhold water after 6pm and to make water use monitored during the day to facilitate potty training.

This just doesn't sound right to me. I mean, it makes sense in regards to potty training, but is it healthy to limit water intake?

When I trained Dari , she was in a crate. There was no water in the crate. While she was loose she had all the water she wanted. But once she went in, no water ; or for that matter, food.
And,yes, I picked up the water bowl at 6 PM.Her last walk was at 9PM.From the day I got her , she slept thru the night.Even with this , her amount of urinating was copious.

To me, this is not limiting her water. When she wanted water, it was as much as she wanted.Even now she only drinks when we come in from a walk or with her meals.

To me, limiting intake is giving a measured amount.

After Dari was totally housebroken and free to be out of her crate, she had acess to water whenever she wanted it.
But like I said, while she was being trained; there was no water in her crate and I picked up her bowl at 6 PM.

There is always water on the ground and I carry water on our walks..
