Face folds?

Snickers has had a little eye discharge lately causing the skin folds directly under his eyes to lighten in color possibly from the eye discharge build up. I've been gently wiping them with a soft, wet wash cloth and baby wipes. Unfortunately I think I'm just causing him to lose hair there. Any suggestions as to what I should do, or should I just leave them alone? There is a bit of an odor, not horrendous, but noticeable. He does have allergies and has been on the allergy shot for about 2 months now, so it may be allergy related also. Not a huge deal, just wondering if I should leave them alone?

Hi Kim- Louie has the same eye discharge - over this time of year it is the worst. He also had bit of an odor on his face and inside the folds it looked a little red and irritated. Keeping the area dry worked the best. I clean the skin folds, dry them well than use a bit if desitin in the folds. Both our guys are very patient and will stand still for me to do this - I always worry about getting it in the eyes!! Anyway- it has worked for Louie and Chester- no more rubbing at the eyes, red irritated skin or odd smell!!! YAY!!

Thanks so much for the info! I'll have to buy some desitin and see if that helps. Yeah I called the vet today and she told me to keep them dry, me rewetting them with baby wipes and a wet wash bloth were only making it worse. I also put some Neosporin on there and they look a lot better. Snickers has an odor too, it is horrible! The folds look red and has some yellow around them. Too bad he's brindle, because my gosh it really does show up! Thanks for your great advice, you've been very helpful! :D
