Our Miss T (just adopted 3 1/2 years,female)
Had last week a shot of steroids,to help her breathe better, and she is also on Simplicef 100mg for a week more (two weeks in total).
Today after cleaning her,we noticed that the hair on her ears were coming off.
When we got her 3 weeks ago,she had already some bold spots on her hips, the vet told us that was not mange,or mites related.
we are bringing Miss T back to the Vet tomorrow, also to check if she is ready for her soft palate procedure, and we would like to know also what's going in on with her coat, she is not scratching and itching at all,...
Do you have any idea what this condition could be,.or did you experience same thing with your dogs?
Thanks for your help,
Marco

If the hair loss on her hips preceded the steroids I would say that it is unrelated. Did your vet scrape her for mange - both sarcoptic and demodex? Was she checked for yeast? Ringworm? Allergies? :) Hair loss can be caused by so many things it can sometimes be hard to pin it down right away.

Could it also be allergies? My mom's baby has allergies and it made him lose some hair around his eyes. He is now on a raw diet and doing great!

Hope you figure everything out with your little one.

The only hair loss I've experienced is allergies. I hope it's nothing more than that with your baby. Does the vet have any idea as to what it is? If it is allergies, you might want to consider doing an allergy test. After 3 years of watching Snickers suffer not knowing what it could be, we finally did an allergy test, got an allergy kit, got him on raw diet (venison) and he's doing wonderful. It's something to look into, well worth the money and believe me we aren't rich!

Keep us posted as to what happens with your girl!

Best of luck! :)

Yesterday Miss T. went to the Vet again, and he was more focused on her heavy breathing,he checked her and confirmed that she had her secules removed and also had the soft palate procedure,..still we cannot,.figure it out why she is breathing so heavily and she gets so tired easily,.he advised us to take her to a Respiratory Specialist,we have made an appointment for June 18,he said that may be her trachea that it is too small or paralized vocal cords. But still he wants us to check with a specialist. In the meantie he gave her a shot of steroids that help her to breathe better.
We will have her tested for allergies next,..
Thanks to all of you for your precious advices,
marco and Miss T.

As for her heavy breathing...did she have a cardiac ultrasound or an EKG done? It could be cardiac related....

Miss Thumbela is doing much better, and most important she seems very happy!
She is very playful with us and especially with Gustave (our first lovely brindle 2 years old male)
The coat is getting better, she is on non allergic wet food prescribed by the vet,and we always use italian extra virgin olive oil to spice her food, that helps a lot.
Still she has still breathing problems, she gets fatigued easily and she is very very loud,.we will see what the respiratory specialist has to tell us on June 17th.
Thank you all for checking on Miss T.
