Hello all,
I am really thankful to be part of this forum,I had great advices in the past, when we first
had our little Gustave, now he is 2 years and half, and he is doing really well.
few months ago me and my partner decided it was time to have a sister or a little brother for Gustave,
Clinton,my partner, found through some French Bulldog rescue, a show dog breeder, that wanted to find a home for some of his dogs.We fell in love with a 3 years and half gorgeous black and white lady,I am gonna call her T. We did fly for 3 hours to go get her,
we've been told that the dog have had a surgery to remove her sacules, that's why she was still panting and she had a lot of phlegm.
Anyway we took her home, and she was getting more and more adjusted,.still she had a lot of phlegm, and she was getting tired very soon, walking, and playing with Gustave.
friday we took her to the vet,to ask him if she needed the nostrils enlargment procedure, like Gustave had and he is much better now.
The vet took blood works and he did Xrays,....well our beautiful T has an enlarged heart,.and today our vet told her to bring her back again, cause probably she has pneumonia,...
we are totally destroyed and sad,.we love her so much and we want her to have a great life,..she seems to do really well she eats a lot,and she plays with Gustave,.and she starts to
recognize us,...
I cannot believe how those people (fake breeders) would do anything to get rid of those dogs,..
Thanks for your patience for reading our story,I will keep u updated after the visit to the vet.

I am so sorry you are going through this

Dont rescue operations have to have their animals checked through a vet before putting them up for adoption? Or is this a party who just puts parties of interest together and lets them work things out?

I know you can't give specifics on the board but was curious about what general things to look to avoid when dealing with rescue in terms of policies

Pneumonia is treatable. Even well cared for human babies get it, after all. I cant get too upset about that but you SHOULD have been told about the heart

Hope it turns out to be a condition she can live with

Frenchbulldogrescue does indeed make sure all of the dogs it places are healthy before they are rehomed.. and it does extensive homechecks before the dogs are placed..The dogs are not from "breeders" but are turned over to rescue by people who can not keep them or found in shelters...

It sounds like you bought your dogs from some one who was "getting rid " of them and NOT from a rescue.. This is a dog that was finished breeding and it sounds more like you bought it from a puppymill and NOT a rescue..

Did anyone do a home check? did they ask for a reference from a Vet?? if not, then this was not a rescue..just to clarify things..
Pneumonia is indeed curable.. an elarged heart may be manageable.. I am sorry to hear this..how did you find these people? thru the internet? by referal??

Thank you all for your concerns, our Miss T she was wrongly diagnosed with an enlarged earth and pneumonia,.from the vet that was substituting our usual one, that was off for few days.
Monday we took her back,to double check, and after more xrays, the doctor told us that the heart was fine, that it only looked bigger in the previous xrays ecause of Miss T that would not stand still!! And no pneumonia ,.just bronchitis, and she is already better!
And I apologies for using the word 'Rescue"we got Miss T from a breeder, that was too old to keep her and posted a placement ad on the web,Miss T needed a home and lots of love and lots of care. She is is doing better and better each day.
Thanks again
M.

I have gotten involved with rescue. I foster for a wonderful bulldog rescue. They help both the English and the French Bulldogs. Quinn and my first foster was a three year old English Bulldog that was rescued along with a Frenchie, from a breeder that was going to shoot them as they were no longer able to breed them. We fell in love with Daisy and had began adoption proceedings, when Quinn passed away suddenly from a massive heart attack new years day. We also fostered the cutest little cream 8 month old frenchie that was confiscated in a local kennel raid. There were two frenchies and two english bulldogs along with 55 other dogs taken in the raid. I can attest to the fact that this rescue invests lots of time and money into getting these dogs well and finding them good homes. Jean Luc, the little frenchie boy we fostered was covered in staff infection and had terrible ear infections. It took months of treatments and loving care to get him well enough to go to his new home. One of the English bulldogs was almost hairless from demodex. She also had a baseball size tumor on her neck. Months and months of mange treatments and costly surgeries and they lost her. The tumor had been pressing on her trachea and when they removed it, it collapsed. She was only two years old. But they did everything in their power to save her. Our Bulldog, Daisy is all recovered now and ready for her new home. I will miss her, but getting them well and finding them wonderful loving homes is what its all about. Dont think badly of all rescues. There are many out there that go out of their way to help animals in need.

Dear friends , i would like to welcome a bouledogue, because i fell in love with this wonderful breed , i lost my boxer a few months ago, and still miss her so much, was wondering if it is a wise thing to look for a rescue , or it would be better to start with a puppy, because i am not an expertise of bouledogues at the moment.

Greetings

Chiara from Italy

Hi Chiara-

I think a rescue bulldog would be a fabulous idea. If you can find a rescue near you, it would be great to adopt one. I have heard that the adoption process can take a little while because they want to make sure the dogs are going to a safe, forever home. Which I think is a great idea. Good luck with your search and I think its so great that you are considering a rescueappicon
