sleeping? I was holding my little puppy (he sleeps sometimes like a baby in my arms) and I noticed he was nibbling his tongue. Has anyone else had this happen? What do you think?

He is probably in a dream or a REM cycle - dogs can twitch, whimper, suckle - do all sorts of things while still asleep. We have had first time owners that were convinced their dogs were having seizures and posted video of it - I am pretty sure in most cases it is just REM sleep. It can be a bit unnerving to new owners, but it is actually a good thing. It is important not to interupt a REM cycle. Next time he does it check to see if his eyes are moving back and forth really quickly under his eyelids. Sam has bellowed like a hound dog in a REM cycle. He ended up waking up after, because we were laughing so hard:lol:

Hi there - she's having a sucky puppy dream, like suckling from her mother.
Our Ky has very animated dreams he is so gobby he talks in his. We have body/lip/feet twitching, eyes flickering, yelping, high pitch noises, puffing, raised hackles, growling, howling, he usually wakes himself up when he does this, along with the whole neighbourhood  When he stops I think great, now I can get some sleep then the snoring starts, bless his little cotton socks.
Sweet dreams :D
