I noticed today that Ivan's tongue is quite pale. He has a big black spot on his tongue that he has had since about 6 months old....but the rest of his tongue is normally a nice healthy pink. I am worried, but he seems to be doing fine. He is running around and playing, and doesn't seem to be having any problems. I am worried that maybe he is not getting enough oxygen. He snores and snorts all the time, but is very active. It has never slowed him down. Should I be worried? Is this a code red? I hate to over react, but I hate more to under react. Thanks for any help.....Jessica

Adora had a bout with pale tongue which worried me sick too!
When I took her to the vet she said it was most likely hypoglycemia and to make sure she ate 4-6 meals per day (she had been eating 3), she's had a nice healthy pink tongue since I made her meals more frequent.

The first thing that I would reccomend; When you take your dogs in to be spayed/ neutered, have the vet check to see if their palates need shortening. This can ONLY be done while the dog is under anesthetic. And please make sure your Vet is familiar with Frenchies and tell the vet NOT to use Acepromezine.
Do your dogs vomit up phlegm after playing? This is a sign that the palate needs to be clipped. Shortness of breathe is also a sign.
Thier nares(nostrils ) may also need to be enlarged.
Did the dr do a blood test to determine that the blood sugar was low?It is very important that you use a Vet that KNOWS Frenchies..

Jessica: if you have not already done so....take your dog in for a vet check or at least call + see if they think you should be seen right away. I never wait to see if it will just go away. An exam fee is well worth your peace of mind. Just my opinion. Let us know and I hope all is well. Carolyn
