I know that Frenchies naturally have erect ears, but Dexter has floppy ears. Well sometimes he only has one floppy and the other not. Will they eventually stand up? The breeder said to tape them almost like a cast if I wanted them to stand up. What should I do?

If they flop backwards its easy to fix, tape them. You my have to retape often though with our boston and frenchie that's what we did. Usually the longer they flop the harder it is to fix.
I have heard if they flop forwards it can be much worse no idea what to do.

When Lulu was a puppy her ears would flop for a little while. One ear at a time. She just grew out of it. I would talk to your vet, but I think it is just a puppy thing ;)

I have never heard of anyone taping Frenchie ears; they should stand eventually on their own. There are some other threads where people who know more discuss this issue.

If your pup is only a few weeks wait to see if it will go up on its own. Sometimes a small fold is easy to fix with some taping if it more than a little a popsicle stick will work fine as a brace. It is just of matter of time before the ear muscle can hold those big ears! Taping is a common practice will all breeds with floppy ears. And as long as your pup is not in the ring. No one will hold a floppy ear againist a cute frenchie. :)

Thanks everyone for your input, but it seems like Dex's ears have started to stand up... it happened over night!appicon
