I posted this on the boxer board and thought maybe there are some people here who are into photos/tourism.
Here are some photos of Palma, which is the largest city of the main island (Mallorca) of the Balearic Islands (between Spain and North Africa). Temperature was fine for mid december (tshirt during the day, a pullover required at night though) and meals were good and cheap (about 10 euros for good entrance/main meal/dessert/wine included.
With easyjet.com from London the round trip flight cost £40 (it's about a 1,5 hour flight one way) tax included. It's the low season.
There it's typically the Mediterranean lifestyle with lunch time from 1 to 4 pm and diner from 8 to 11 pm. Many people still out at 2-3 am when I took the night photos. The place is famous for 24 hours parties ending at 4 pm

View of the harbour with the castle (Almudaina which was first an Arabian fortress and the huge gothic cathedral (Sa Seu in Catalan, its construction started at the beginning of 14C) in the background

Such beautiful photos! What kind of camera do you have? The photos don't look digital - but if they are, that's a great camera! I'm in the market for a new digital ...

Thank you! I will post more photos then. It's a fun hobby for me.

Roosje: the first one was taken in the late afternoon the day I arrived there. I was near the fishermen cleaning their net :) The temperature was great, like 16 degrees Celsius... I want to go back there NOW!
The second photo was taken with the camera at 1600 ISO and without a tripod! I like it very much too.
The third photo is still the castle, at the bottom it is the water. I didn't have enough wide angle in fact!

Martina: it is a Nikon D70 which is a digital SLR. I had the Nikon 18-70mm (27-105mm equivalent 34mm) lens which is delivered with the kit. I love it. It's fast, startup time is instant, autofocus is very quick... Only "problem": it makes a little sound when you take a photo.

Jennifer: yes, some have that oil painting look but they have been only resized. I have also noticed that oil painting look with the Coolpix 5000 with is also a Nikon. With the Canon Pro90, never.
Some of the oil painting look can be seen with photos of seagulls taken in London at http://www.pbase.com/boxerworld/birds
