I have a 20 month frenchie who has lots of skin problems. I just put him on a raw diet. Does anyone have any experience with this diet and any suggestions?

Hi-
Ruby is 18 months old and was really itchy. We put her on raw diet and I think it has helped her a lot. Sometimes I catch her scratching and licking her paws, but I think she is just bored and wants me to tell her to stop. (She is quite an attention hog:eek: ). Frenchies tend to be itchy, but I have seen Ruby's scratching be so much less since starting her new diet.appicon Hope the raw diet works for frenchie too.

many other member use a Raw diet for their dogs - you should get lots of great information by reading some of the past threads. If you have any specific questions you need to give us a little bit more information. Are you doing a homemade raw, or pre-made ground. What brand are you using and what feeding guidelines are you using. I personally tried raw because my oldest Frenchie has allergies and is a finicky eater. She loves her meals now, and I love being able to control what she is getting. I know a lot of people in the US that use Bravo Basic and are very happy with it - Personally I prefer to feed my dog pre-made protein only portions - I give them a small amount of fruit/veg daily that I puree myself.

Thank you.
I am feeding Louie Nature Variety. He gets 2 medallions of either Lamb, Beef or Chicken. I also give him Raw Instinct kibble. He seems to really love it...

How old is Louie and how much does he weigh? Are you feeding kibble in the AM and raw in the PM or vis versa. Are you feeding kibble and raw together?
Kibble and raw shouldn't be fed together. If you want to still keep kibble in his diet, then you should be feeding raw and kibble pretty far apart in the day from the other. Is there a reason you want him to eat raw and kibble?
Nature's variety is pretty good but, I am concerned you aren't feeding him enough raw. Depending on how much kibble you are feeding him. Two medallions is only 2 ounces of food. With that much raw, and the rest kibble, I would say he is getting very little of the benefit of being on a raw diet. Especially since Nature's Variety has other ingredients in it besided just meat.
