I wasn't really sure where to post this since it's not a real health problem, but I was wondering if it was normal?
Isabella gets frequent hiccups and I burp her to get rid of them. It doesn't take but less than a minute usually, but all three of my dogs seem to have this problem a lot. They are fed at a regular time, the older two dogs ( pug and boston 2x daily and Izzy is still on 3 x a day. ( She will be 3 months on the 27th) Do all brachycephalic types dogs suffer from this? Athlon gets sometimes hiccups and there are scary as it is like he can't breath well and it is loud. It is also for about a minute. I think in Athlon's case it is called reverse sneeze.

Nan: Ferris got hiccups a lot when he was a pup. He seems to have grown out of it for the most part. Here is a link to info regarding reverse sneezing...which is a whole differnet thing:

Thank you Carolyn, that's exactly what Athlon has from time to time.

Hello, I don't have a Frenchie yet.. still in the tear inducing search.. I think I am not the only one who has felt this way,

ANyway, I have a one year old Boston Terrier and she reverse sneezes. I used to think she was choking and would give her the Heimlich.. :D it was so pitiful because she would scare herself and come running to me.. and all the kids and I would gather around her and coo and worry and think we were saving her life! LOL that dog had it going on! I think she tried to get a sneeze episode going just for the attention.
Finally my sister, who used to breed Shitzus told me what it was and to just cover her nostrils for a few seconds until she breathes through her mouth.. It works like a charm. but now she doesn't come running to me.. now that we don't all go into spazms when she does it.. but I do love her! Little Ham!
