Hi Everyone, just thought I would start a new thread to try to arrange another London meet like the one we had back in November, which everyone enjoyed a lot. appicon Hopefully, we can get more people and more frenchies together this time - does anyone have any proposals for location/date???

We're up for it (I think)

Is it where we ended up before Emanuelle? Not that I can remember quite where that was :o

Glad to have you back!! Sorry I did not get back to you the other day - we had a funeral :( and I was just not up to it.

Anyway, on a cheerier note - would love to come next week, would there be any decent parking nearby?????

Charloot

We are up for it too, smae question about parking.... now to find my sat nav

Clerkenwell Close, EC1, around the church there's a green, what does that mean? is it a little park? Or just a green on a road?

wee
6th February 2007, 11:34 AM
It's a little park, quite quiet. There is parking on the street but I think it's metered - at least we got a ticket on a Staurday when parking then forgetting about paying when seeing and chasing a frenchie previously unknown to us :o

Sundays might be different though

Louis mum
7th February 2007, 12:36 AM
Hi Guys, I have been given this info re. Sunday -

Yes, there is plenty of free parking as the restrictions are lifted on sundays so all can park on metered bays for free.
Here's a link to the place http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=531511&y=182233&z=1&sv=531511,182233&st=4&ar=Y&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf

It is off Aylesbury Sr & Sekforde St EC1. It is a green space around a church, very secure and quiet.

We still have not decided whether we will be able to come - weather reports are not looking good for 40 mile trip into London, but fingers crossed.....;)

Is anyone going

Is anyone going

Well, I think if the weather holds out there might be quite a good turnout, but it seems that now the snow has all gone and there is rain forecast for Sunday :( mind you, if you remember, it was the same last time, when we met at Battersea, and the weather was fine for us.

So fingers crossed - I think if the weather is fine, Ivan, Louis and I might make the journey. I know it is a littel way out for you and for us, but we don't have any other plans and we did not get to meet Poppy, Monty, or Lola and Boris last time, so it would be nice to meet some more Frenchies.

Also, Whilst Ivan was out driving the other day, he met a lady with another frenchie and she might come along too - could be nice :D Fingers crossed for good weather!!!

I'm up for it but if weather is dreadful, Spike won't budge. Trying to walk him in a centimeter of snow was exhausting until I turned back for home. Poppy says "what snow? I didn't notice anything..."

Charloot

We should be there, really bad rain or snow and we might not. Hope to be there and meet you all.

wee

poo!

Something's come up and we won't be able to make it after all. Hope weather clears up for everyone else - it's bucketing down at present (3.30am) - and look forward to seeing the photos

Will be eagerly awaiting next meet...

It's 8 am and the sky is blue with the sun coming up. If you are not going I want go, I wanted to see Spike, as I have decided to which bitch I will put him. Maybe we can meet up some other time? ;)

Spike's chops quivering with apprehension at the prospect of meeting another bossy high-maintainence frenchie girl... Poppy has him twisted round her little dew claw.

Did the meet go ahead?

Let's have another one soon!!!

I don't know - we didn't make it - we got up a bit late and it was pee-ing down with rain :( so decided not to make the trip.

What a bummer. The weather is always against us evilicon But, one thing you can be sure of is that you can never rely on the weater in this bloomin' country!

Did you go Charloot??? I know Emmanuelle was still up for going - gutted I never got to see the little guy but, I guess there is always next time........

Hi sorry have been in hospital for the last couple of weeks and came out Tuesday. I saw Marcel's mum and she told me about the meet. 7 doggies turned up and the rain kept away. It was really good and I think Monty enjoyed himself as he slept most of Sunday afternoon
We met Roxy, Lola, Boris, Kurt, Marcel, and little Isi, who stood his ground very well seeing he is soooooo tiny. All the dogs were good considering were all strangers. Look for ward to the next one. Shame you did not make it :(

Charloot
12th February 2007, 07:48 AM
Yes we went and it was so much fun! needless to say Boris and Lola slept soundly for around 4hrs after the meet!
Loved meeting everyone and Isi is the cutest, bossiest little thing!
I only got about 3 photos that actually had dogs in them, they were all moving way too fast for me!

Sorry to hear about your hospital stay Jo, I hope you are on the mend now though :)

Emmanuelle sent me the photos she took of the day, and I must admit Isi looked like he was holding his own quite well - I am so glad that all worked out so well if we remember how it all started:D She says that Marcel has recovered well from his op which is very good news.

I figured out who most of the dogs were, Charloot, was Lola wearing a red harness and pink collar, and Boris a black harness and blue collar? I am very interested you see, as I think your two are about the same age as Louis and we were worried he was quite small, but he looks about the same size as yours, maybe not quite so chunky as Boris, but then anyone who has met Louis will testify that is is rather overactive for a Frenchie! so he is quite lean. We love, love, love him anyway so we don't mind!

Sorry we missed the day :( it is quite a drive for us to Central London but I hope we will have another meet soon and we will do our best to make it:)

Yup, thats Boris and Lola in their matching collars! Isn't Louis a bit older than my two, they are only 6months old? Boris is a bit chunky isn't he? Lola has quite long legs so it just makes him look fatter!

Oh, yes you are right, Louis is just turned 9 months. Although I had a good look at him today and he does look quite well filled out actually - I don't know if it's just me but there are some days when he seems to have had a growth spurt overnight - have you noticed that with your two??? Or am I just bonkers!!

Charloot
13th February 2007, 07:05 AM
I do that with Lola, she looks really skinny one minute the next I think she is Boris! They are equaling out slowly, think Boris will always be a shortie compared to Lola.
It was a shame you weren't there! Boris was very over-protective of Lola, Kurt was getting growled at even if he just looked in Lola's direction!

The agreement with Spike's breeder when I got him was to keep him intact in case he was particularly handsome, which of course he is ;)

The meet looked like fun fun fun. Isi's ear seemed to wilt with all the excitement. I tried to walk Pops and Spike in the rain that day and literally got nowhere as Spike seemed to think he'd stay drier if he sat down and refused to move.

Good job it's his looks that count rather than his brains...

Same agreement with us and Louis - who knows - he seems to prefer boys at the moment, silly frenchie  but as he is Spikes stepbrother, he is also a looker!!!!;)

He doesn't seem to mind the rain too much though, I walked him with my sister and her two dogs (a dalmation - Wilbur, and a lab - Tara) and he didn't care a bit. Mind you he loves his Uncle Wilbur, you only have to say 'where's Wilbur' and he is at the door moaning to go out!!appicon

In fact, nothing sems to bother him that much apart from trying to cut his claws - we are still not there yet on that one!!! I wonder how he will fare when we get him a little sister this year............

Boris hates rain, wants to eat snow and tries to bite the wind! Lola won't go out in anything other than bright sunshine, if you even try to get her out she will just give you a look, as if to say 'You expect me to go out in that?' Such a primadonna:lol:

Poppy tries to eat snow too then gets all hung up on gazing at her own reflection admiringly anywhere she catches it. Between her, Spike and passersby, walking these two dogs is a disaster...

Charloot
15th February 2007, 02:24 AM
If Boris sees his reflection it more of a 'who's that dog there? I want to KILL it!' So thats him sat at the back doors barking for about 20 minutes before I pull him away.evilicon

Louis mum
15th February 2007, 02:46 AM
Hee hee, they are all vain!!! We have a large mirror on our wardrobe door in our bedroom and he will sit on our bed admiring himself !!!

However, if he sees his reflection in the patio doors, he barks at it. Another thing, we have to close the back curtains as soona s it gets dark because the tv reflects in the window and that really starts him off, he just stands there barking his silly little bark for ages:lol:

Congrats on your new little girl! What fun you have in store appicon

I barely remember how we got Spike and Pops together - I think I said before that we just let all 8 weeks of her trot in through the door to go meet Spike when we got her home. We just enjoyed watching them together so it was no chore and we probably separated them for the first couple of nights - more worried about what she would do to him, I suspect.

Spike's very chilled. Poppy was (is?) a horror but I never really considered anything would not go right so never got particularly wound up with them and they probably caught the vibes. As said somewhere before, Spike walked about with a face like a slapped backside for a few days but had lots of fuss made over him when Poppy was around so he associated her with fun and cuddles. He still gets treats first but that doesn't stop Pops thinking she's top dog.

I would suggest not getting too anxious about introducing a new pup - Monty will catch it - and go with the flow. Watch them, but enjoy them more so they feel relaxed when together rather than on edge. Let them playfight a bit but intervene if it all gets too rough. You'll know when it's right to leave them alone together. I went by feel so can't really do anything but say how we did it... Right or wrong, we had no traumas or catastrophes :D

I will be very interested to see how you get on as we are considering a little sister for Louis this year, although we have been assured that he will be fine (comes from same breeder as Spike and Poppy) as they all have good temperament.

Well, good luck with the introduction - we have fingers crossed for you and Monty :o

Weds 1st night, not to bad. I placed her bed next to ours and just left my hand hanging in it for a while. She woke up and headed straight to the pad to pee, sooo sweet.

Monty has chilled out and follows her around until she decided to try and swing on his face  Monty has never really barked more than twice since we got him but this little madam yaps and yaps and even growels

When i think she is going a little bit too far i stop her from attacking him !
She is asleep on the sofa at the mo and like all frenchies passes wind with gusto  I took her to the vet on Friday and even the vet was impressed by her gas out let! She goes to bed at night and will have a play and a little yap, then sleeps. She slept from 10.30 last night to 9 am. Will keep you posted and will try the pics again. I must watch Crufts, my breeder is showing today appicon :)

Hi all
if Battersea then i will bring Mabel, not Monty, he really can not travel.
The parks are small by us and the Clerkenwell one has just put up " Dogs not allowed off lead" posters!:( I think it's because we have so mant kids with out of control Staffs

Mackie and I live in Mobile on the gulf coast. What part of Florida do you live in? We are about forty-five minutes to an hour(depending on traffic) from Pensacola. Mackie has only seen a few frenchies briefly at the dog shows. We werejust discussing it today that she has never been around another girl dog! All her "brothers" are boys!! She seems to love everyone and would surely like to play!! My mom has two yorkies but they don't care to play with her! So sad!! Her big brother, Colt plays with her briefly and we really have to watch him so that he doesn't smoosh her since she's so small!!

OK everyone, I have been trying my best to find a date when everyone will be available and have come up with Sunday 29 April 2007 - da daaaaaah!!!appicon

What does everyone think?? I know it seems a long way off considering we started looking at Easter weekend   but I guess it gives us all time to put it on our calendars.

Locations suggested have been Hampstead Heath, which seems favourite, or Battersea again, as the Clerkenwell venue is no longer appropriate.

So, Hampstead on the 29th - is this gonna be ok?? And who will be able to come??:(

Would love to have you come along, but it'll take more than 5 hours to get out of Florida and into the UK!

I guess the reason there seems so many of us is that the UK is a very small place compared to the US - you can get pretty much anywhere here in 5-6 hours, not just to the next state!

Anyway, if we stick to the 29th, we have a few birthdays around that date (Louis, Marcel and Bullylove) so we will be in a celebratory mood and will raise a toast to our frenchie cousins over the pond appicon

29th ...which park

Well, I am happy with any, I know you would prefer Battersea and that Jo doesn't mind either:) - haven't heard anything yet from Wee or from Charloot, so let's see if they have any preferences. It's not for a few weeks yet, so no panic.;)

Peace Pagoda is by the river about halfway along the length of the park. There are buses that stop on the bridges on either side of the park but best bet is to plan your route using the tfl site and it'll give you maps of stops and places.

Poppy spayed yesterday and today is up for it big! You'd think Spike was the one who had surgery looking at their behaviour, but then he has had a very busy manly week ;) evilicon ;)

Come on everyone, let's have a party on 29th... Charloot, the last meet was quite a way from Battersea - where in London were you coming from? Maybe this journey would be different and then your doggies won't care about the return journey cos they'll be shattered

I would spay her with 7 month, just get her out of the baby puppy age.

poppy is just 1 year old. lots of things going on when i first considered it before she first came on heat (at 8-9 months old) so never managed to organise it and couldn't face the stress anyway, so she went through one season. i reckoned since we then had about six months clear, we'd wait for her to get even bigger cos she was soooooo tiny and i had a scare with spaying my staffie in the past.

anyway she's two days post-op and doing so well - you wouldn't know anything had happened, so don't worry, just go to a trusted vet and mabel'll be fine.

Can not belive i did not make it :(

Set out with good intentions, we were stopped about 6 times before reaching the Tube.
She was very excited with every one touching her. Then got on the Tube, reached Kings Cross and were mobbed by a group of female students. Got to Oxford Circus and same thing again with tourist. So by now she was very hot and panting so we decided to go home. We got off at Green Park.

We walked through there for 10 mins to clam her down and give her a drink then got a cab home. So sorry we missed out as it was a lovely day. Around 3.00 she was really sick and looked very sorry for her self. So next time where ever you decide to go, i think i'll just jump in a cab :) let me know how it went...any pic's :p

Hi all sorry had a few days off. Saw some of the meet Pic's did Marcel go?
also I am having a bad time with Mabel :( she spends her time tearing Monty up.

I mentioned it to the vet and told him the whole "Time out, No, ingoring, etc saga " so he suggested every time she attacks him, call her away get her to sit, lay etc and a treat. In that way she associates nice things every time she sees Monty. That lasted about 2 days  I did not see how it would work, Mabel thinks like me in that if she has a quick nip at Monty she comes over sits and gets a treat ( smart dog )

I do not know what to try next, she is very strong willed. Every time you try some thing some one always says "you should not do that " because it makes her etc etc but at the same time i'm giving every thing a go just so Monty can have his peaceful life back. i love her to bits but she is just very naughty and does not want to get clean either.

I put down a pad she will pee some where else. I move the pad and she will go to where it was before  never mind i'm sure it will work out in the end. :D

Hey Jo!

Marcel and Isi couldn't make it so no pics of them.

Don't worry bout Mabel - she's still very little isn't she (behaviour and weewee-wise)?

Poppy - 1 year old and rising - has stopped chewing Spike's face for fun now but still bites his chops rather than pulling the toy he's offering for play. Oh and when they're in the park off lead, she constantly drags him round by the chops and lies in wait for him to just head butt him for the hell of it - there's a photo of her doing this in the gallery...

I'm sure Mabel will grow out of it eventually or Monty will tell her what for when he's had enough. Spike does occasionally tell Poppy off much to her shock but usually just lets her get away with it, or comes to me for refuge.

Lets hope so as Monty's face looks shocked and bewildered all the time  as he suffres another drive by munching  she is just so quick, that the poor thing does not know what hit him...
