Hey all,
this is a bit off topic as it is about one of our two cats but where better to ask then here I figure? This past Monday the hubby and I both had the day off work and with all that time what did we decide to do? Go to the vet of course! Ok enough sillyness..we took both cats to the vet for their yearly vaccinations on Monday, gellie (the male wimpy wimpy kitty) was fine..lishi, our talkative calico on the other hand is always lethargic after shots but this time was so lethargic I was a little worried..anyhow, she is no longer lethargic but my husband said he thought he heard a kind of pop when the vet gave her 1 of the 2 shots..(the phone also rang in the vets office at the same time he was giving the shot) so my ? is did he miss the area he was supposed to give the shot in and if so is this harmful?? I felt around this morning and there is a little mass on her kneck I am pretty sure it is the area where she had the shot and she DID NOT want me touching it. She is eating fine and seems ok but I still worry..I found on the inet that often after a rabies shot a mass can occur and it is not abnormal but I am not sure that is what it is...any advice or opinions are appreciated..
if you wanted to see my lishigirl or my handsome gelliebellieboy

Abby also had a small mass after she had her first rabies shot. My brother is also our vet so I know the injection was given properly. This is not uncommon and we were advised to massage it daily and eventually it would go away. My husband was diligent about massaging it and although it took several months...it eventually went away. You should let you vet know and they can make note of it in the health record. Carolyn

thanks Carolyn, actually it seems to have disappeared or i just am not able to find it under all that fur anymore! i looked again last night and this morning and could not find anythning but a small scab (prob from her brother!) I am going to monitor but I think it may have been a false alarm, overreactive mommy...
