Dutchie has a grade 4 luxating patella. I noticed a slight limp about 6 months ago but it would come and go after daycare so at first I thought it was from playing too hard but when it persisted I took him to the vet for a hip x-ray (which was fine) but she said it was his knee. Last week after daycare he didn't act right for a couple days, just lying around, not playing or jumping, so I called the vet and they got him in for surgery right away. Several vets in my town recommended this vet because she has so much experience with this procedure but I'm still nervous. Of course, the last couple of days he has been running and playing like normal, but I know the only solution is to have the surgery. So please wish me luck! Or shall I say, wish Dutchie luck. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Well, the vet called- he had his surgery this morning. He spent the night with my in-laws because they live in the town that the vet is in. It was terrible to be here all night without him- I had to sleep alone! I'm getting ready to go pick him up now. My mother-in-law said he's pitiful! But I talked to the vet and everything went well. Can't wait to get my hands on him!

Glad to hear the surgery is over and Dutchie is ok. Now your challenge is keeping him quiet for several weeks!
