Last week I adopted a 5 year old spade frenchie female. (After just one week we don't know how we lived without her. :p ) I have been ppouring over this forum almost every day getting helpful info on all sorts of issues. Thanks to all.

We think she is adorable as is, but should I be doing anything about the fact that her tongue seems to hang out- about 1/4 to 1/2 inch, a great deal of the time? Will it dry out and cause her any problems or discomfort?

Having her tongue out isn't going to hurt her any. However, there may be a reason that it protudes - such as a wry jaw. Those are big issues for a showing/breeding dog, but for a pet it is only an issue if the jaw is so wry as to affect the dog's ability to eat. I'm guessing you'd have noticed by now if it were the case ;) So the answer to that one is probably just as first stated - having the tongue protuding isn't going to hurt her at all.
