Capote

I have tried to get onto this board for so long--and have encountered SO many problems along the way. I thought I would never be able to get on! I have a 6mo old fawn Frenchie named Capote. He is so smart--he loves obediance training--and loves to be with me. My Chihuahua, Ted, doesn't really get along with him, and the cats don't really like him either. So I feel rather bad for him! I'm his only current playmate, and I doubt I'm as fun as another dog, but we do our best. He has a little toy box that has all his toys and it's so cute when he goes over and pulls it out with his teeth. You see his big bowling ball head and upper body disappear into the box--he likes to pull each toy out and play with it for a few minutes until he has every toy strewn about my living room! Just like a little child. I'm totally in love with this little guy, and glad to be on the board!

[QUOTE=Capote;25747] and the cats don't really like him either. [QUOTE] Our cats have finally realized that when Arlo is in tired mode it's actually OK to come out of hiding! hahaha I see that eventually they will come around but I think it's going to have to be when Arlo is out of his biting, chewing puppy stage. They see what he does to his toys and they do NOT want it to be them! I bet it will just take them some time but eventually the other members of your family will adjust and eventually love him too :)

Thanks for the welcome! It was rather sad to see that my loney little post was the only one around there with "0" next to replies. :( So I made it a 1! :)

I think you're right. Capote will learn that cats are not his toys. He's already getting better. One of my cats takes charge and bobs him on the head when he gets too rough. The other I think acts too like a squeek toy, so unfortunately she is often the subject of much torture!

I know! Whenever I can get Capote together with another dog, he is so tired he doesn't play for the rest of the day! It's so nice for him to be able to play with other canines. Right now and for the past half hour while I've been doing work on my computer, he's been running around doing puppy zoomies around my apartment with his playmate, the ball.:p

I haven't been on lately (traveling) but would have responded sooner since you live so close. We are in Hudson OH.

I know what you mean about playing with other animals. Tank likes playing with other dogs but big dogs ignore short dogs and small dogs aren't tough enough to play with Frenchies (he terrorizes a local Cavalier King Charles Spaniel just by playing). He loves playing with other Frenchies but doesn't get chances for that too often.

Tank is a 19 month old neutered red male. He is a great pet and we'd like another. But just one more; a good friend has 4 Frenchies and a good natured husband (though he stopped her at 4).

Going to the Cleveland dog show on Dec 18-19? Good show for Frenchies and other owners. We have friends showing so we'll (not Tank though) be there.

Have you been to the English and French Bulldog ****** group? Just wondering because I thought I might have seen a picture of tank on the ****** site. If not, you should! I have the organizer's brother, Capote. :)

Aren't these dogs just a hoot? Welcome to the site. So many new pups posting here....it's great and I hope to hear more about your Copote!

I have two....Abby is 5 and Ferris is 3. They are my dose of daily sunshine and laughter. :p

I really didn't know that much about Frenchies before I brought Capote home. I've been studying dogs for years, but had never met or thought about a Frenchie until I saw one in a Pet Land cage. (ugh, don't get me started...) I fell in love with that little guy and did lots of research after that. I found an amazing breeder and went to see her show at a local dog show. Now I have my first Frenchie and I just LOVE him! I have been having a blast meeting other Frenchies and the cool people who live with them. They are an amazing breed!:)

Welcome Capote!!! He is very cute!!

Our Louis is just over six months old now, and he and my 13 year old marmalade cat have an understanding, if the cat wants to sniff him, it's ok - if he wants to sniff her back, it's not so good. However, we did have a laugh a couple of weeks ago when she batted him round the head for getting too close - Louis obviously decided that enough was enough and punched her straight in the face - I know you shouldn't laugh, but they don't miss a trick, do they??

Not quite so straightforward with my little tortoiseshell cat...........as mentioned re. Arlo - the cats now know it is safe to come out when Louis is asleep, but she is quite a nervous girl anyway, so if she tries to sneak past him, he will chase her, but if she were to strut past him like the other one does, he wouldn't bother. Slowly, slowly, but we are getting there.

Don't worry though, your other pets will get used to him eventually, it just might take some time..........
