manjas back problems

as you know manjas diagnosis is pretty bad. He has hemivertebra. We are going to a bone specialist on wednesday but for now the vet has prescribed for him 'Metacam' which is for reducing swelling and inflammation. I was just wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with this drug. I believe its often prescribed for arthritis. I havent seen any improvement yet, although the vet told me not to expect anything for a couple of weeks.

Hi Kelly. I have been using Metacam (for several months) for my 14 yr old Boston who has really bad arthritis in her back knees and it does help her. I also have a 16 yr old St Poodle who occasionally has problems just getting up and I will use Metacam for him and it seems to give some relief. My brother (our vet) likes this drug because it is non-steroidal. I hope it kicks in and helps Manja.
