Dew Claws

I realize that often these are removed by the breeder, but my puppy still has his dew claws. The vet said that it's really a matter of personal preference and that he can remove them at the same time he gets neutered. He said the only real concern is them getting caught when running/playing.

Does anyone have any strong arguments one way or the other?

There is a thread that you may want to look at. Just do a search for "dewclaws" and you can read what others have to say. My two both have their dewclaws and they have never been a problem.

I personally think it's like our appendix, it's a real problem when it becomes a problem. Otherwise, leave it alone... :)
