I've been meaning to ask about this for a while - but I've had more important questions! The problem is that Lola sheds A LOT ... ALL THE TIME. She sheds like a dog that sheds!! Even the vet is surprised. And it's definitely gotten worse. She has no skin irritation that I can see. The vet gave us some fish oil/vitamin e pills - and she seems to be shedding worse! Yesterday I got to thinking of hypothyroidism. When I, as a human, was diagnosed my hair was falling out all over the place. But she's really, really thin (hypothyroid makes you gain weight). She's totally healthy (and just hit 20lbs and she's not even 7mo), but her body shape is really different from Gigi - who's a little pudge muffin and who seems more 'typically' shaped.

Is there some sort of supplemant? Should I be concerned about thyroid problems? I brush her everyday, but it doesn't seem to help at all. She just sheds and sheds and sheds.

Comments??

The more you brush, the more they will shed ;)

More AAARRGH!! I feel like I'm in a catch-22! I started brushing her more because she seemed to be shedding so much - and now I find out that the brushing may be causing her to shed more. Say it isn't so! Man, this sure isn't easy ...

Well, that also explains why Lola (pied) sheds like a shephard while Gigi (brindle) ... doesn't. All I can do is laugh at myself ...

Martina,

My abby sheds alot also and I only brush her once every other week. I have no idea why. I also have a miniture american eskimo named Tea' that is VERY furry and abby is shedding more than Tea'
I have no idea why they shed so much. Also she has flakes not too bad but I do see it.
