Since it may be obvious that I know several members already; let me say hello to the rest of you.I have a wonderful brindle girl ,Dari who is 4.5 years old.CCkaht(American Lynx Hybrid) and Butch Katzidy (American Bobcat Hybrid) round out my house.
I am very active with French Bulldog rescue doing home checks as well as trying to make sure that there are no Frenchies in the local shelters. One of my other responsiblities is doing homechecks for breeders. When they have an inquiry in my area (and they are not able to do the check) they ask me.
None of the breeders that I know will place a pup without a homecheck.
About 6 months ago after 4 years of fighting with Dari to eat; we switched to a raw diet. For us, it was the best thing. She now inhales her food.
So that is it. I am a passionate Frenchie person. A lover of the breed and a defender of the breed

Abby and Ferris send their love across the continent to you and yours.

Madison & I are happy to see you here. It is always nice to find friends on more than one board. Glad that Dari is doing so well on her raw diet.

Welcome :)
It is great to have members dedicating their time to rescue FB. I hope it is not too common to see abandoned FB because for boxers it is unfortunately pretty bad.

Unfortunately we are seeing more FBD's in rescue..More already this year than all of last year. With the popularity of the breed and people buying with out doing research; abandonment has become a major issue.
Badly bred dogs with temperment problems seem to be the reason that people are turning in dogs.Thankfully FBRN and FBCARL have dedicated volunteers to foster and place our wonderful dogs.

appicon Fran: You & others in the wonderful organizations you mentioned do such good things for the breed. I know that if I had not gotten Madison he probably would not be here right now. He had so many health issues & behavior issues as well. It takes patience & love & discipline to turn these dogs around and the reward you get from doing so is beyond measure. Thanks for giving other dogs the kind of chance that Madison got.

Pattie,
Hi,Glad to see you.Rescue can always use help. Homechecks, transports and of course MONEY!!! Kiss Madison for me.Dari says hi and yes she is doing really well on Raw.
Rescue also works cause people are willing to take dogs with some issues and love them.

Fran:
I agree with your comments about rescue. Even though Madison was found at a shelter & not at FBRN, I still consider him a rescue. I can't imagine what would have happened to the little guy with all his problems. I know his cuteness would have gotten hiim a home in the first place, but with all he ended up needing, I am afraid that he may have just ended up being put to sleep rather than someone giving a chance. I am just glad he ended up here & that we were being given good information to get us to the right people to help him. When I look at all the dogs on the FBRN site, I just see dogs that are going to make someone's life very happy. And I am so glad when they get homes.

Pattie...you are what rescue is all about. I have always thought it so sweet that you didn't even know Madison was a Frenchie when you adopted him! How precious is that? ;) You are Madison's angel and what an angel you are. It is so sad to see so many in rescue....mostly ower surrenders. How sad is that?
