Barking Breakfast Bars
4 cups Oats (or oatmeal)
1 cup Barley or millet or wheat or buckwheat
1 cup whole wheat flower
1 cup boiling water
8 tablespoons cold-pressed safflower oil
8 tablespoons blackstrap molasses
2 tablespoons raw honey
4 medium eggs (with or without shells crunched up)
Set oven at 350 F
Put all ingredients into a large bowl and mix with boiling water until sticky dough forms.
Place on a well-greased baking sheet or pan and bake for 45 minutes.
Remove form oven and cut into squares.
At this point you can both return it to the oven (turned off, but still hot) and let them dry out a bit until cooled. Or let them cool and remove from the pan.
These keep for about a week in the refrigerator or you can freeze them in zip-loc bags.
If you choose not to add the egg shells, these are a great human snack too!
