For those of you who use Frontline ......
Do you still find your dog gets ticks ?
We use it religiously and are always on time reapplying , Mia still gets the occasional tick . I found one this morning and it had bitten into her skin.
I could understand if it was just crawling on her but I thought the Frontline was supposed to keep them from biting her.

My vet was telling me that Frontline and Advantage don't work to repel ticks but will kill them after a while. Advantix supposedly helps repel ticks, but be careful about giving your dog a lot of baths (like I did) because all of these topicals wash off. A collar specifically for ticks that you get from the vet called Preventic was recommended to me if ticks are a real problem.

Thanks for the info Ashley. I didn't know that . I really thought the Frontline was a repellent.
Wow, what is the point of using something for ticks if they only kill them after they bite . So MIA can still get Lymes disease.
I now wonder why I put this poison on her body if they are going to bite her anyway. The only difference is the ticks won't stay on long.
I am not a big fan of any chemicals on my dog but I use them because I fear she will get lyme disease.

I really like the Advantix. I can tell the difference between Dutchie and any other dog that happens to be playing in our yard at the time. He has been tick-free so far. I saw one sitting on him when he was outside the other day but by the time I went to get it, it had disappeared.

I also use advantix and I have yet to have one tick on any of my 5 dogs. On the other hand I have had one on me and one crawling on my chair. So I do belive that the advantix repells.

I think I am going to look into the advantax.
The ticks seem to be worse this year on Long Island. Last night my husband woke me up at 2:00 in the morning. He found the smallest tick I have ever seen on his chest. It was the size of a poppy seed. I have no idea how he even found it.
I belive those little ones are the deer ticks that carry lymes.

I wish they made an Advantix for humans that repelled ticks, mosquitos and flies!
