hey everyone. my boy louie has red bumps on his chest again and is scratching. it started with a few pimple like spots on his face that would come and go. now it spread to his chest area. his skin seems very sensitive especially after playing rough with other dogs. what should i do? anyone else have this problem? anything i could use to soothe his skin or to keep it from getting irritated?

Hi! How old is Louie? I was told that sometimes these bumps are "puppy pimples" but could also be allergies. When we got Kirby at 4 months he had some bumps on his back and under his chin. I noticed that sometimes they become more apparent after play or a stressful situation (almost like hives?). I was told that allergies tend to present themselves more as bumps on the tummy and that they'll have itchy feet too. Everything I've read on Frenchie's has told me that the have sensitive skin - we were very worried!
The vet advised us to keep an eye on his skin and bathe him 2 times a week in an antibacterial wash (like for face acne but not a super strong one). At 4 months also (like a week after we got him) we had to switch his food to a more basic one (California Natural Puppy Lamb & Rice) to help rule out allergies because of his extremely sensitive stomach at the time. The bumps went away within a month but I don't know for sure what caused them since we changed more than one thing in the time that they went away. We have since been introducing him back to a variety of biscuits and treats and the bumps have not reappeared (he's 6 months now) so we've written it off as sensitive puppy skin. (I apologize in advance if Louie is not a puppy and this is irrelevant!)

BTW for the bathe I used Teraseptic on the inflamed areas only and let it sit for about 3-5 minutes, rinsed well and then shampooed as normal - under vet's instruction. He now just has his regular shampoo only :)
