Hi Guys - I just wanted to write and let you know that we are going to make an appointment to get Bugsy Neutered. I am very nervous! We are taking him to a surgeon that will put him under and do the neuter then they are going to check out his soft palate and use a laser if necessary! He is still having upchucking episodes and they want to make sure it is not a soft palate issue. They will also check out his nostrils too. I am very worried because I am so afraid that something will go wrong! He has already been through so much! But, I also want him to have a normal puppyhood without all the upchucking!! Send good thoughts his way!

Sandi:
Having gone through all of this stuff with Madison I can imagine how worried you are. I can tell you now, that you will be a basket case the day of surgery & will not really calm down until your sweet baby is home afterward. My best advice to you is to make sure that your surgeon is experienced with flat faced breeds since there are some anesthesia issues with brachycephalic breeds. Also question the surgeon about how many of these procedures he has done. If you are at all nervous about this doctor then find a specialist that you are comfortable with. Trust me it is worth the extra money for the piece of mind. We have a regular vet for most things. But Madison goes to the specialist for surgery, issuses with his esophagus, emergency room visits & dermatology. What type fo soft palate issues are they looking at? Do they think his palate is elongated? Madison had surgery to shorten his, but he also had to have soft palate reconstruction & this had to be repeated twice. Plus he had surgery for everted laryngeal saccules & stenotic nares. Best of luck to Bugs & please keep us posted on how he does. I will be thinking of him & also of you, since I remember how I felt every time that Madison has had to be away from me.

Sandi...Pattie offers good advice. Her sweet Madison has had so many health issues and Pattie can really relate with your anxiety. If you are confident with your vet and his knowledge of flat faced breeds then you should be ok. We all go crazy with worry when our pets have surgery. We share your concern and we all pray for the best. Regards, Carolyn
Kisses to your little guy.
