hey. fran...you were saying that to help eliminate what oscar is allergic to, i could feed him raw food with just meat and bones. do you know of a pre-made raw that is like that besides bravo? i am having a really hard time finding it in san francisco. i don't trust feeding him a chicken back or something like that as oscar never really chews. he just chokes down his food so, when i have given him necks or something, he just tries to swallow it and seems to choke himself. thus my search for the premade. do you know any other meat and bone brands? all i can find is stuff with supplements, veggies, etc. he seems to be getting worse, as far as licking and biting his paws. is there any other reason (besides food allergies) that he would have started doing that? thanks!

Did you find that brand; Granddads?
Or you can go to the butcher and get meat.. add bone meal to it.. The ratio of meat to bone should be 80% meat/20% bone..the health food store sells bone meal..
At this point ,if you can not find a premade mix, your best bet is to make it yourself...Get a grinder and then freeze it.. My friends take the ground meat and put it into ice cube trays to make servings..then when it is frozen, they put it into plastic bags..
Good luck..

yeah!!! thank you thank you fran. i found oma's as well that could be shipped. i will see which is cheaper and try it out. i intend on putting oscar on something he hasn't had before (rabbit and bone, and/or duck and bone) and then observing his paw licking to see if it goes away. then, i will know it is the food right? if it goes away. and if he keeps licking his paws, plan b :) does this sound like the right way to go about it? thanks.

There's a huge list of raw food products/info on this site:
There's also a really good SF coop for raw feeders, which may be more for whole ( not pre made) but their members might be knowledeable about resources in SF.
