Tsu had a large chicken thigh for his first ever raw meal. His response was very interesting. I put it in his bowl, and he wasn't quite sure what to do with it. Pawed at the bowl, pranced around sniffing, licking. I took it out of the bowl and put it on some paper. That worked some until he picked it up and headed for his favorite rug.

So, we punted and took it outside. He worked on it in the grass for a while - still not quite sure what to do. So, dad intervened. As I tore chunks off and handed them to him he became more agressive. He finally got the bone in his mouth and started crunching away. Now things are making sense to him and he is really liking this meal! Crunched and chewed his way through the rest of it, and was wanting some more!

Overall, I think it worked out very well. He seemed to like it very much as he figured things out. We need to establish some sort of sanitary feeding method for indoors wherein he isn't tempted to carry it around the house.

Now for phase II - poop check:cool:

You could feed him in his crate.

Sounds like Tsu did pretty well with his first raw meal :)

That is certainly an idea - would have to clean up his crate after he eats. I am thinking of getting a vinyl floor mat of some sort and trying that. The main thing is to keep him contained to one area so he isn't draggin raw chicken all over the house.

Thanks for your previous advice gmacleod - it is very helpful in developing the confidence to make the switch.
