update on nipping

I wrote about a week or so ago about my 4 year old rescue Ali. We had him about a week and he was nipping at family members and growling at our big dog, and chasing our cat. I got some great responses....Well we have had incredible success. he nipped again at my grandson and unfortunatly his face was next to ali and got srcatched. I held his mouth and yelled no, and we sent him upstairs and put him in our room. That was it! It has been over a week and he gives kisses to all and hasn't nipped at a soul. He follows my other dog around and only has a little growl when he is being cuddles and Boba wants in. I say no and he stops. He even ventures away from me occasionally and plays and explores with others. He is a treasure. He is even begining to tell us when he needs to go out. He does follow me around and waits by the door till I come home if he is not caged (long durations alone) when he has others to watch him.
He and the cat have still not become friends as the cat sees him, runs which is an invitation for Ali....Neither have realized the cat is bigger and Ali just wants to play. Jerris does not play.
Anyway, he is affectionate and playful and I am in heaven. Thank you for your responses. I waited a long time for this little guy and was quite concerned. appicon

Just out of curiosity, besides telling him that he was going to far, did you change your approach towards him?

I am sure I was not as warm as usual that night but we just left him in my room till he had to go out and to bed.Ali hates not being with me and whatever is going on. :lol: We have Lucas feeding him dinner now and walking him when we can at night. He just figured it out. He even went up and kissed him the other day. He is getting along with the dog and lets me pet him awhile before horning in. The funny part is Boba was not very affectionate and now when I come home I have Ali jumping and kissing and Boba right there for his hugs too. It's a sight. :lol:
