My new lttle Frenchie is very bad. He chews on everything and constantly barks if he doesn't get his way. How to control?

Your puppy is not bad, he is just like all other puppies. He is still so young, don't expect to much from him. One tip, don't reward his barking by giving him attention at the moment he barks, give it when he is quiet. He is left alone for such a long period of time, it won't be easy to raise a puppy this way. My advice is go to puppy classes with him, you will get a lot of good advice there :)

Here are some good links to help you further.

Thank you for your response. Yes, I do realize he is not "bad" but if I'm on the phone and playing with him; he will bark & whine at me. He is very wlllful and wants his way. I do go home at lunch and spend about 45 minutes playing with him and letting him run around outside. We also spend a lot of time with him in the morning and in the evening. I have also been letting him sleep in the bed with us at night because he will not sleep in the basket beside the bed. He will whine & cry until i pick him up and i have tried to leave him there to try & ignore it but it goes on for like one half hour. As soon as I put him in the bed; he snuggles & sleeps all night. He is so cute i have a hard time but I will be more disciplined in the future. I tried to put some pics of him on here but they are not showing up for some reason. April

i am in love
those are just the cutest photos!!! no wonder you are having difficulty with discipline what a face!!! no seriuosly though, I have to second what Roosje has said and add to it that you may want to look into getting a copy of The Dog Listener (that's listener not whisperer although I hear that one is good too) by Jan Fennell it really helped us out. Also the book Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson is also good although I found it to be more difficult to read then The Dog Listner..how old is the puppy? remember he does not know how you want him to behave unless you teach him. sounds like he is a puppy being a puppy, with a little direction and a lot of repetition things should calm down.:-)

Update on Little Bo: He is behaving better after spending the ENTIRE weekend training. He is 9 weeks old and 5 lbs. He went to the doctor on Saturday for 1st check up. He is also starting to listen when I say BAD and stop doing the bad activity. HOWEVER- THE NEW BAD BEHAVIOR has set in- he is eating his poopy. It is horrible- as soon as I leave the kitchen (his designated confined area) he goes and eats it behind my back. I tried to monitor him every second so i could let him know its bad but he seems to wait until I go and do something that takes more than a couple minutes and does it in my absence. On Sunday, he got real sick and was throwing up feces- out of his nose - so gross. WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THIS!!!???? ps= HE ALSO Slept thru the nite in the box by the side of the bed without giving me a hard time. I couldnt believe it. He woke twice and snorted at me so I took him outside and he went to the bathroom. I was very proud... until I got the phone call from my boyfriend (home with him today) that he attempted to eat the poop again!! Need major advice on this one. Thanks

You go to your profile, when you are there you have to go to the second bar from the top with: User Control Panel, Profile, Signature, Avator etc. You click on Avatar and voila! :)

I spoke to my vet today and they recommended adding meat tenderizer to the dog food. She said it will make it unappealing the "second time around". Thanks for the pineapple suggestion.

I found a chewable pill that you can give the puppy at the Pet Smart store. It is a condition known as Coprophagia. Not sure how well the meat tenderizer is working but I started Little Bo on the pill yesterday so I will see when I get home at lunch today the progress.

Hi everyone. Little Bo is growing by the second. He is awesome and cute and we love him very much.
However, the poopy in the house DOESNT STOP! I will spend hours outside in our yard with him running & playing but the minute we go in the house, he runs to either the basement and/or second floor back bedroom and goes into the corner and makes a poopy- then to make matters worse- he proceeds to EAT IT STILL! He never goes to the door to advise us he has to go out- never barks at the door or even makes an attempt to go near it- he has this fascination with going in the basement or the back bedroom. I dont know how to stop this!! He also is in the Nipping, Biting phase. He nips & bites at my husband's feet & hands and goes up to the couch and bites it in front of him. Doug always gives him attention so i dont know what this is about. Does he need Schooling? He goes to dog day camp 2 days a week for socialization and loves it; but I fear he might also be picking up the other dog's bad habits?

Please advise with any advice! Thanks
