Thank you all for your kind words concerning the loss of my Great Dane. Reading the posts of others who have lost love ones has been a comfort to me. Those of us who have love Danes know they are tragically short lived but we always hope ours will be the exception. Ruger was a massive dog with an immeasureable heart. He was the embodiment of love and wanted nothing more than to please. He went Home this past weekend. Friday night Ruger began his preparations for the journey with subtle differences in his personality only I could tell. Saturday he seemed brighter and enjoyed the day with the family. My little niece was spoiling him all day, feeding him treats and giving him hugs. She knew nothing of my concerns about him, so I was really moved when she turned to me and says "You know, Ruger is so happy I bet he thinks he is in heaven." Sunday morning he was. Ruger, you brought me every happiness and I will try to be patient until I see you again.

My best friends have Danes..and the first dog that Dari interacted with after her shots was thier Dane..
Wonderful, loving dogs full of charm and life..

Once I asked Gail how she dealt with loosing them at young ages..She told me"Look at how many wonderful dogs I have been priveleged to have"..

Ruger will always be with you, in your heart.His strength and love will guide you..

Hold Sully close; let him do his job.Let him be a Frenchie.Let him be funny and silly. Let him be loving and warm. let him heal you..

I still have a large empty feeling that was brought on upon the loss of a Great Dane. Savanah was a beautiful, sweet, loving Dane! We will always miss her.
