I have been collecting Frenchie and Boston figurines for years....my one and only frivolous hobby! Jim has been picking them up at flea markets, antique stores, etc. Well....tonight he presented me with a Frenchie w/ two pups and the mama dog has the Canadian maple leaf on her. It looks like it came from St Johns...is that a city? I have uploaded a picture and you hopefully you will be able to see it within a couple of days.

My collection has grown to over to over 100....many are very old porcelain ones from Germany.

Anyway...thought I would share my latest with you all. :D

Carolyn,
I'd also LOVE to see pictures of all the Frenchie & Boston figurines you have over the years, must be a fantastic collection!
I myself have this bathing Boston figurine from Japan, I thought it's hilarious. :)

Carolyn,

I love little things, too – especially Frenchie things! A friend bought me a silver necklace and on it was the tiniest little silver Frenchie charm.

Newfoundland (said neuf-en-land - where your figurine is from) is made fun of (lovingly) by everybody in Canada (except by the Newfies). They have strange accents that almost sound Irish, they speak Gaelic in some parts, and one of their famous recipes is seal flipper pie. They're also famous for Screech, a hard alcohol. When you first arrive (to live or visit), you get "screeched in": you down a shot of this booze and then blow on the puffin's ass (a fake one).

-Brooke.

Kat...those Bostons in the tub are great! I'll see if I can get a good shot of my collection. It's funny...but I started collecting when we only had our Bostons....but many turned out to be Frenchies. When we got Abby....we really focused on looking for Frenchies and now they outnumber the Bostons. I've completely filled up 8 shelves of my display cabinet! It's fun.

Fran, I too have a collection of very very old Boston Terrier statues, ashtrays etc. Some from late 1800's early 1900's. This is because my great grandmother and grandmother(both deceased) just loved Boston terriers and have always had at least 2 in their house. I have never thought of getting rid of them, but if I ever do Fran i'll let you know.;)

Caroline – it looks like your figurine says St. John NS.

There is no St. John NS. (Nova Scotia)

There IS a St. John, NB (New Brunswick_AND a St. John’s (with an s) Newfoundland - (The one Brooke was talking about regarding the "Sceech" - DEADLY by the way  )

Now I’m perplexed.
Is the S really and S in NS or is it a B?

Signed,
The inspector

Lisa; I think the figurine came from New Brunswick as I can't imagine a dog like a Frenchie existing in Newfoundland:lol: Why haven't you joined the frenchie map yet? We need more Canucks, as the Fins are taking over!
Devon.

Agreed - it must be New Brunswick.
What Frenchie map are you talking about???
ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
