At Mojo's check-up last week he weighed in at 20lbs 3oz. He is 6 months old. All of the dogs I have owned over the years have been large dogs that have matured at 100lbs or more, and have grown considerably past their 6th month. I realize that every dog is an individual and that the best guage of ultimate size is the parents, however, in general, do Frenchies grow much past six months old? I'm starting to think Mojo is going to be significantly larger than I anticipated. Currently he is all head and body. He looks comical running around on his stubby, cobby little legs.

Most Frenchies seem to get thier body growth by ten or eleven months.
The "fine tuning" can go on till about the second or third year..
The head comes in and the chest will drop, the forehead will broaden. But ,I think that the weight and height are accomplished by 10 or eleven months.
It also depends on the line. Some lines will mature very fast and then become "overdone" once they reach 18 months..Go back and look at the sire and dam..That can give you some guidance unless Mojo is an outcross (bred from 2 different lines)

I wondered about this myself. Our english wasn't full grown until he was about 3.
Lamont is 27 lbs - he's 6 months old today. He's a little on the long side in my opinion - we can't figure out where his weight comes from to be honest but picking him up is becoming a bit of a chore.
I hope he fills out in the chest, neck and head....( girth?)

Sidney is almost 6 months and he weighs in at 17 lbs. He looks long to me too, but I guess he'll start to fill out. :) I kind of wish I could keep him the size he is now because it's still really easy to pick him up and carry around.

Lenny is staying small just like I hoped he would. He is 1 year old and is 20 lbs. Sweetie seems to be staying on the small side too. She will be 1 next month and is also staying around 20 lbs.

I am a little curious about all of this to. Ollie Bubba weighs 23 pounds at 11 months old. Now to me he looks a little thin for a bulldog. Yet weight wise and so forth he is not. As well, the vet does not see or find anything wrong either and thinks I am being overly concerned. But just seems to me he ought to be chunkier than he is. He has the bulk and muscle, just not the weight to go with it. Maybe he will fill out yet, and this is just an awkward growing stage he is gong through. The two girls, which are the same age as he is, look fine, but they are not as big built as Ollie Bubba is and they are female and smaller. Anyway, guess time will tell..lol.

Frenchiesmom.....they are all so different, so I can only go by what I have seen with my two. Ferris continued to grow until he was a bit past 2....not so much in weight but we noticed his head getting bigger, more wrinkles. He just seemed to gain more and more of the male build. :)
Abby seemed to finish growing earlier. I don't know if it had anything to do with her high activity level but she was pretty much done by 1 1/2 yrs.

Sugar seems to be on the small side, for sure. She's just turned 6 months and weighed in at 13.5 lbs last week. She won't likely get more than 20 lbs, the vet says, but she seems to be very small for her age still. Not that I'm complaining because she still can curl up in my lap. Her proportions seem good right now, but her parts seem to grow at different rates. Her head went from being proportionally huge to hilariously small. Now I swear that her ears are twice the size!

Frank and ClemsMom,
I was just curious, how much did Sugar and Clementine weigh at 3 mos? We were told our baby Ruby was going to stay small - she is now 5.5lbs at 3.5 mos.
Just curious,
Thanks!

Marty, I'd say that Sugar was about that weight. I think that she was six pounds when we first brought her to the vet, and that was at 12 weeks.

Tank is 18 lbs at 8 months old. The breeder had estimated he would top out at 22lbs, much puts him at the small end. Our preference is for smaller (he is such a chicken out climbing that he gets carried a lot) and if we got another I could see asking the breeder to call if she had any more from a litter that she expected to stay small.
