DeDe's Health Update.

I have been away from the forum for a while. So first DeDe and I want to say 'hello'. We've been keeping Doctor appointments and finally all the results are in. DeDe is only 6 months old now and has a bad heart. she was born with a defect in the right side which is also causing fluid build-up in her abdomen. She wasnt getting over-weight, it was fluid. That also explains the lack of energy. There is no cure or surgery treatment for the right side of the heart. Left side,yes. Right side,no. The Docter has prescribed a heart Med. for her heart,to help pump the blood, but told me that it it designed specifically for the left side. Also a Med to help reduce the fluid build-up. He doesnt know whether any of the two will make a difference or not, time will tell. Her growth is stunted, and we dont know how much time she has left. He said as she keeps getting older, the defect will get worse. She will eventually guit eating and loose weight drasticly. I have been very upset. I am going to love her while she is with me and make her as comfortable as I can. She has long since not been able to take long walks with me like she use too,she just does'nt have the energy, so I have ordered a stroller for her so she can still go with me.She is so sweet and kind and loving. I know that she would want me to send her love to all of you.

I want to thank all of you for your kind responses. I have told DeDe that her 'Forum Family' have been wishing her well, she just tilts her head from side to side. I know she doesnt know what I am saying, but I believe she knows its something good by the tone of my voice.:) . She's so funny :D .
She's been on her Meds for 6 days now, I dont see a difference yet,but Its not any worse either-so thats good. Its probably too soon. She has a really good appetite,so I'm really happy for that appicon .I wish the fluid in her abdomen would go away.
Her stroller came-she's not liking it much :rolleyes: , we''ll have to work with that.
I have emailed the breeder to no avail (no response). I expected that though.

Send the breeder another email in a couple of days; then send a certified letter.. IMO , it is very important that this person is aware .

Why? first off, if this is a responsible person, he/she will want to know for the sake of the breeding program..Second, they should have responsibitly under the terms of purchase..

Like everyone else I am sooo sorry to hear this distressing news. But she does have you and that is a big blessing for her. Hopefully the meds will make some difference. These little guys give us soo much that we want to do all we can for them, and you are doing that. Give her all our love, cuddles and kisses, and know that we are all here for you, and keep us updated.

I would keep nagging the breeder. If they are not responsible breeders it will not do any good, and they won't care. But if they are they need to know this,if they didn't already.
