Olly,
The BEST way to find out where to go and where to stay is from others; not from advertizing..
Undercurrents is a publication for Scubadivers that people write in with their experiences..Never have I found it to be wrong because people are telling what they think, NOT being paid...
And now you are providing an ENTIRE site for this!appicon appicon
Thanks once again..

I am not a diver but would love to try one day :)
I do swim well at least!
How deep do you swim? I had a colleague who was a diver and he told me the best place was the red sea.

I unfortunately have never had many opportunities to travel... Being Asian American, my parents, as well as my grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc., believed that vacations should revolve around gambling, so we didn't do much traveling when I was young. It wasn't until college that I learned that most other families actually spend vacations traveling to places that are much richer in culture, history, and cuisine than Reno, NV. (To be fair to my parents, most of our vacations were actually in Lake Tahoe, which is quite beautiful.) And now I will have to live vicariously through the rest of you until I've paid off my student loans (college + grad school + condo payments = mountain of debt)!! :)

One of my most memorable trips was July 2001 to the Red Sea.We left out of Hurgada ( Egypt) on a live aboard. A 120 ft yacht with 16 divers; for 14 days. Did not see one other boat the whole time..The water was crystal clear and the sea life was spectatular..
I have been as deep as 120 ft in Truk Lagoon. But usually stay at around 60 feet.. There is no real reason to go deeper.. The fish life is abundant at that depth..And I go to see the fish..
My other wonderful adventure was about 3 years ago in Belize; we dove with the Whale Sharks.. They come in to eat the spawn of the snappers at the full moon one week a month in April, May and JUne.. The juveniles are 20-30 feet; adults are about 60 and up...
Beautiful and wonderous creatures...
